Guide to Flash Firmware on Poco X2 [Unbrick/Restore or Get Back to Stock ROM]

Poco X2 has been teased for quite a while now and finally, it was launched back a few days ago. After almost one and a half years of launching the Poco F1, Poco came with its second smartphone which although does not pack in the flagship-level processor but sports a 120Hz refresh rate display with a dual cutout that houses two front cameras. In fact, it is a rebranded Redmi K30 for India. Talking about other specs, it comes with Snapdragon 730G, 6/8 GB of RAM, a 4,500 mAh battery, a 6.67-inch display, with up to 256 GB of onboard storage. Poco X2 also comes with Android 10 out of the box.

In the camera department it has a quad-camera setup with 64MP primary shooter and in the front a dual-lens with 20MP shooter. It supports 27W fast charging as well. In this post, we will be guiding you on how to flash the firmware on Poco X2 [unbrick/restore or get back to stock ROM]. Moreover, you can use this method on any PC or desktop running Windows, Mac or Linux operating system. So, without any further ado, let us get straight into the article itself:

Below are the steps that you can follow to install ROM for the first time from China ROM. Notably, all your personal data will be deleted.


Note: There are risks involved in unlocking the bootloader of your device. So make sure that you make a backup of all the data and files on your device and save it before proceeding with the next steps. And also, GetDroidTips or the author is not responsible for any damage caused to your device during this process. You can proceed with the steps at your own risk.
  1. First of all, you need to unlock the bootloader of your device. And for that follow the below steps:
    – Go to the Unlock Request page by clicking here.
    – Click on the Unlock Now button.
    – On the next page, log in to your MI Account. In case you don’t have an account, create one.
    – Make sure that you are using the same account on your Xiaomi Device as well.
    – Once you have signed in, fill in the form by entering your Name, Country name, Mobile phone number, and fill the captcha.
    – Accept the disclaimer and then choose an appropriate reason for unlocking your device.
    – Finally, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.
    – Your number will be verified through an OTP.
    – You will be shown the risks involved with unlocking too.
    – Moreover, in a few days, you will receive an approval notification via SMS.
    – Note that this approval may take even more than 10 days. Just be patient.
  2. Then you need to download either Weekly or Stable ROM.
  3. Extract the contents of the zip file on your PC.
  4. Now you need to reboot your device to the Fastboot mode by switching off the device and then clicking the Power button and Volume Down button together.
  5. Connect your phone via USB cable to the PC.
  6. Run the fastboot script from the unpacked zip:
    For Windows OS ./windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat
    For Linux ./
    For MacOS ./
  7. After the above is done, then reboot its done.

Below are the steps to install the update ROM on your Poco X2:

  1. Download ROM zip file WEEKLY or STABLE.
  2. Unpack downloaded zip file in the PC.
  3. Reboot your device to Fastboot mode by pressing volume down + power buttons.
  4. Connect your smartphone to PC via USB cable
  5. Run Fastboot installation script from unpacked zip:
    For Windows OS ./windows_fastboot_update_rom.bat
    For Linux ./
    For MacOS ./
  6. After the above is done, then reboot its done.
