We brought Bloodborne to PC in our previous guide. Now, it’s Kratos’s turn.
God of War III Remastered, the PS4 version of one of Kratos’s most brutal adventures, can run on Windows through a community-made project called SpartanPort. Previously known as gow3_pc, this unofficial project gives PC players another way to experience Kratos’s assault on Olympus using their own compatible game files.
In this GetDroidTips guide, we’ll walk through downloading the launcher, preparing the game folder, applying a matching update where needed, and launching the game.
Important: SpartanPort does not include God of War III Remastered. The project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment or Santa Monica Studio. You must provide your own compatible PS4 game dump.

Step 1: Download SpartanPort for Windows
Open the project’s GitHub page:
SpartanPort on GitHub
Then follow these steps:
- Open the Releases section.
- Read the instructions for the release you want to install.
- Expand Assets.
- Download spartanport-windows.zip.
You can also go directly to the SpartanPort releases page.

Choose the packaged Windows release rather than GitHub’s automatically generated source-code archives.
Once the download finishes:
- Right-click spartanport-windows.zip.
- Select Extract All.
- Choose a destination and complete the extraction.
- Move the extracted folder to a permanent location, such as your Games directory.

For example:
C:\Games\spartanport-windows
Do not run the launcher from inside the ZIP archive. Keep the extracted files together so the executable can access the components supplied with it.
If you followed our Bloodborne guide, keep that installation separate. Each project expects its own launcher files and game data.
Step 3: Prepare Your PS4 Game Files
If your compatible game dump is already extracted and correctly updated, skip to the folder-checking step below.
Otherwise, prepare your base-game package and any matching update package. This guide starts with files already compatible with your extraction tool; it does not cover obtaining or decrypting game files.
Before extracting anything:
- Check the base game’s full title ID.
- Confirm that any update belongs to that same title ID.
- Keep the extractor in a separate working folder.
- Make sure the destination drive has enough free space.
- Preserve your original packages until you have tested the installation.
Do not mix an update for one title ID with a base game carrying another. Renaming the folder will not make incompatible files match.
Open the compatible PKG extraction tool you use for your dump and extract the base-game package.
If your extractor supports dragging a PKG onto its executable, you can use that method. Otherwise, follow the tool’s documented extraction procedure.
Allow extraction to finish completely before moving or editing the output.
If the extractor reports an error, resolve it before continuing. A partially extracted folder may look complete at first glance but still contain missing or damaged files.
Step 5: Extract and Apply a Matching Update
Skip this step if you are using a supported base-game version without an update, or if your dump is already updated.
Extract the matching update into a separate folder. For the merged-folder method used in this walkthrough:
- Create a backup copy of the extracted base-game folder.
- Open the extracted update folder.
- Select and copy the contents inside it.
- Open the working copy of the base-game folder.
- Paste the update contents directly into that folder.
- Choose Replace the files in the destination when Windows asks.
- Wait for the copy operation to finish.
Copy the update’s contents, not the entire update folder. Placing an update folder inside the base-game folder does not put its files in the locations this method requires.
Follow the preparation instructions for your particular SpartanPort build if they specify a different update method.
Step 6: Check the Completed Game Folder
Open the completed game directory and confirm that it contains:
eboot.bin
sce_module
sce_sys
The folder containing these items is the one you will select in the launcher.
Watch for an accidental extra folder level. For example, if opening CUSA01623 reveals another CUSA01623 folder, you may need to select the inner folder containing the actual game files.
Checking the structure helps prevent a path-selection mistake, although it does not by itself prove that every file is valid.
Move the prepared game folder to its permanent location before configuring the launcher.
Step 7: Open SpartanPort and Select the Game
Open the extracted SpartanPort directory and double-click SpartanPort.exe.
In the launcher:
- Select Choose the game folder.
- On the Game page, click Browse beside the game-folder setting.
- Select your completed game directory.
- Return to Home.
- Check that the detected title ID and version match the files you prepared.
Select the folder containing eboot.bin, rather than the parent directory holding your entire installation.
If the displayed version is unexpected, recheck your files and update preparation before proceeding.
Step 8: Keep the Initial Settings Simple
For your first test, leave the remaining settings at their defaults.
Getting a working baseline makes later troubleshooting easier. If you change several graphics options before the first launch, it becomes harder to tell whether a problem comes from the game files, the project build, or a particular setting.
Connect your controller and save any pending changes in the launcher.
Step 9: Launch God of War III Remastered
Click Play and allow the game time to start.
The first launch prepares the game image, and shader compilation can affect startup and performance. Avoid immediately closing the application simply because gameplay does not appear at once.
If startup fails or an error appears, record the message before changing anything.
Step 10: Test Actual Gameplay
Once you reach gameplay, spend some time checking how the game behaves on your PC.
Start with movement, basic attacks, and dodging. Then test a busier encounter with multiple enemies and effects on screen.
Pay attention to:
- Controller response during attacks and evasive movement.
- Frame-rate changes during combat.
- Lighting, textures, and visual effects.
- Audio during gameplay and transitions.
- Loading when moving between areas.
- Saving and continuing your progress.
A successful launch is only the first check. Playing through several situations gives you a better idea of stability than watching a quiet scene.
God of War III’s scale is a major part of its appeal, but those dramatic encounters are also useful places to assess how your setup handles demanding gameplay.
Troubleshooting Common Setup Problems
The launcher does not recognise the game
Check that you selected the folder containing eboot.bin, sce_module, and sce_sys.
Also confirm that you are using a compatible PS4 Remastered dump and have not accidentally selected an update-only folder.
The detected version is incorrect
Review how the update was applied.
For a merged installation, the update files must be copied into the working base-game folder, replacing matching files. An interrupted copy or an extra nested folder can leave the installation incorrectly prepared.
If necessary, rebuild the working folder from your original files rather than repeatedly copying updates into an uncertain installation.
Check the available space on the destination drive and read the error shown by the extraction tool or Windows.
Do not continue with a partially extracted game or an incomplete update. Keep the original packages available so you can repeat the preparation process.
The game crashes before gameplay
Confirm that your hardware meets the project’s requirements, then review the release notes and troubleshooting information for your installed build.
Record whether the crash happens immediately after clicking Play, during startup, or while loading the game. Those details help narrow down the problem.
Return to the initial settings if you have made changes. Then adjust one supported graphics or performance option at a time and repeat the same gameplay test.
Compare performance during combat as well as exploration. Avoid assuming that another user’s results will match your PC.
The game crashes during a particular encounter
Note the location and what was happening just before the crash.
Check whether you can reproduce the issue after loading your save. Include those details when reporting it, along with any settings or modifications you changed.
What to Include When Asking for Help
If you need help, leave the following details in the GetDroidTips comments or your project support report:
- Processor model.
- Graphics card and driver version.
- Installed RAM.
- Windows version.
- SpartanPort release version.
- Game title ID and update version.
- The exact error message.
- When the problem occurs.
- Any settings or modifications you changed.
A report stating that the game crashes during a specific fight is more useful than simply saying it does not work.
