Fix: GoPro Hero Not Connecting to Quik App on iPhone and Android

Pairing the GoPro to the GoPro Quik:

Before we get to the solutions, let’s first see how one can pair the device to the app. This will ensure that you follow the correct pairing process steps.

  • Put your GoPro camera in pairing mode.
  • Turn on WiFi or Wireless connections(depending on your model).
  • Now open up the GoPro Quik app on your smartphone.
  • Tap on the camera icon.
  • Your Bluetooth on the phone will initiate the connection. You need to follow the on-screen instructions after that to complete the pairing process.

Enable location services:

  • Tap on the camera icon in the app’s bottom right corner.
  • Tap on the User-added image in the top right corner. That will take you to a camera menu.
  • From the camera menu, remove your camera that was previously connected.

  • Open up Settings on your phone and navigate to Bluetooth.

  • Once you see it, tap on it and choose 2.4 GHz. If it was already set to 2.4 GHz, try switching to 5GHz.

Disable Smart WiFi features:

If you have any smart WiFi features built into your smartphone, you need to disable them, as some are known to cause connectivity issues with GoPro devices.

  • Open up Settings on your phone and navigate to WiFi.
  • Go to Advanced.
  • Disable smart features like “Smart Network Switch” or “Auto Network Switch.”

Disable Network Rating Provider:

Starting from Android 8.1, Google began to implement a software feature that lets your device switch to another WiFi connection nearby if the network you are connected to has a weak connection or no internet access connection. When the GoPro is connected, it will not provide internet access to the smartphone. Now you need to remove the GoPro from your phone’s WiFi network.
