Install HyperOS ROM On Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Ultra Using TWRP Recovery

We will first take a look at how to install the HyperOS ROM on your Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Ultra using TWRP recovery. This method has proved to be successful for many users and we too, recommend this. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Install the Android Software Development Kit (SDK)

Install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC before you start installing the ROM. To facilitate connection between your computer and Xiaomi 13 during the flashing process, certain tools, including ADB and Fastboot binaries, are essential. Save the Android SDK file to your computer and extract its contents.

Step 2: Turn on USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Turn on OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging on your Xiaomi 13. We will need these permissions to unlock your phone’s bootloader and connect it to your computer via ADB. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on About phone.
  3. Tap on the Build number several times to activate the Developer Options.
  4. Once activated, go back to the Settings page and tap Additional settings.
  5. Tap on Developer options.
  6. Make sure to turn on the toggle next to Developer options.
  7. Scroll down and turn on the toggle next to OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging.
  8. If prompted, tap on Enable and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Unlock Phone Bootloader

Unlocking the bootloader is necessary to install the unofficial Xiaomi EU HyperOS ROM. Keep in mind that this may remove all warranty protection and erase all data from your device.

In other words, you must unlock the bootloader on your phone for extensive system modifications and to install custom ROMs. To unlock the bootloader, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Mi Account.
  3. Sign in using your Mi Account.
  4. Now, go back and tap on Additional settings.
  5. Tap on Developer options.
  6. Scroll down and tap on Mi Unlock Status.
  7. Tap on Agree.
  8. Then, tap on Add account and device.

Enter Fastboot Mode:

  2. Now, open the folder where you extracted the platform tools contents.
  3. Right-click anywhere and click on Open in Command Prompt. You can also type in cmd in the address bar and hit Enter to do the same.
  4. Now, enter the following command and hit Enter. Your device will now enter into Fastboot mode.

adb reboot bootloader

  1. Check if the device is connected by executing the following command:

fastboot devices

Unlock Bootloader:

  1. Now, you need to download the Mi Unlock Tool on your computer.
  2. Extract the contents and run the miflash_unlock.exe file.
  3. Click on Agree.
  4. Sign in using the same Mi account you used to sign in on your phone in the previous step.
  5. Click on Agree.
  6. Make sure your device is connected to your computer.
  7. Click on Unlock.
  8. Then, click on Unlock Anyway.
  9. All your data will be erased during the process.
  10. Finally, click on Reboot Phone.
  11. Well done! You have successfully unlocked your device’s bootloader. It’s just a few more steps.

Note: If you are unlocking the bootloader for the first time, it can take up to 360 hours for Xiaomi to approve.

After they authorize the unlocking, you will get an email or notice to confirm it.

Step 4: Enter Fastboot Mode

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Now, open the folder where you extracted the platform tools contents.
  3. Right-click anywhere and click on Open in Command Prompt. You can also type in cmd in the address bar and hit Enter to do the same.
  4. Now, enter the following command and hit Enter. Your device will now enter into Fastboot mode.

  1. Check if the device is connected by executing the following command:

Step 5: Enter TWRP Recovery

Flashing the HyperOS ROM in your Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, or 13 Ultra requires a custom recovery, and the best option is TWRP Recovery. Visit the official TWRP website or a reliable source, such as XDA, to download the TWRP Recovery image that is compatible with your device. Once you have flashed TWRP Recovery on your device, follow the steps below to factory reset your Xiaomi 13:

  1. On the TWRP Recovery interface, tap on Wipe.
  2. Then, tap on Format Data.
  3. Type “yes” and press Enter.

  3. Drag the slider to the right to finish flashing.
  4. The flashing process could take anywhere from five to ten minutes, so please be patient.
  5. After that, go back to the main TWRP interface and tap on Reboot.
  6. Tap on System to reboot your device to HyperOS.

  3. Right-click anywhere and click on Open in Command Prompt. Alternatively, you can also type in cmd in the address bar and hit Enter to do the same.
  4. Now, enter the following command and hit Enter. Your device will now enter into Fastboot mode.

  1. Check if the device is connected by executing the following command:

Step 5: Flash the ROM

  1. Open the HyperOS ROM file and extract its contents.
  2. Double-click on the first_install_with_data_format.bat file to begin the flashing.
  3. Please be patient while the flashing process finishes. It might be a little while.
  4. Once your device reboots, you will be greeted with HyperOS.
