Xiaomi started pushing MIUI 126.96.36.199 Global Stable ROM for Mi 9 which is a high-end flagship device launched in February 2019. If you have the device, you will receive the software version V188.8.131.52.QFAMIXM on your Mi 9. If you don’t receive the OTA, you can manually download and install by following the guide below along with download links and requirements.
The new MIUI 184.108.40.206 update (Pie) for Mi 9 is rolling out globally via OTA in a phased manner and will take a few days to appear on all the units. It brings the January 2020 Android Security Patch that fixes bugs and improves system security. If you want to install this update on your Mi 9 (Codename: cepheus) then you can either check for OTA updates or manually flash the firmware from the full step-by-step guide below.
Manually Check OTA Updates
Keep in mind that all the incremental OTA update roll-out always hit a limited number of units initially. Then the broader roll-out process starts and takes some time to arrive on all the units completely. So, it’s better to check for OTA updates manually to get notified.
In order to do that, go to the phone Settings > About Phone > Software update. Additionally, you can perform this task via the Software Updater app directly. If the software version V220.127.116.11.QFAMIXM is available, you can grab it.
Before downloading the OTA update, make sure to charge the phone battery up to 50% minimum and connect to a Wi-Fi network.
