HMD Global started seeding a new monthly software for its devices. Currently, Nokia 6.1 2018 is receiving December 2018 security patch update. This software update is currently rolling out in over the air. It steps up the Android security patch level to that of October 2018 with many improvements and bug fixes.
Along with December patch, the company also activated the VoLTE and VoWiFi, improved the signal strength, Swype keyboard now correctly identifying words, Screen responsiveness is much improved and other regular bug fixes. The latest monthly update weighs 89 MB and it is seeding over-the-air globally. It will be available to the devices in batches. Your phone will automatically catch the OTA. Then you will get the notification to install it. If you cannot wait for the OTA to show up then you can manually check for the OTA update.
To check for the software manually, Go to device Settings –> System menu –> System Update —> Tap on the Check for Update option.
If the OTA update appears then press “Download” to download and install it. You have to restart your device once the installation of the new update is successful.
Before updating, make sure that you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network to download the update. This way you can you save the carrier’s data charges. Also, make sure that your Nokia 6.1 2018 has at least 50% battery charge before installing the update. Usually, a low battery will not allow you to download or install the new software.
