The iOS 13, iPadOs 13 and macOS Catalina upgrades for iPhone, iPad and macOS respectively, came with various new features, and the Reminders app got new additions such as creating nested to-do lists, as well as subtasks and sublists, a new user interface, over 70 options for list icons and colours, and even more.
Another new feature of the reminders app is the Remind when messaging feature which allows you to set a reminder that will go off when you send a message to someone in the Messages app. In this guide, I will show you how to activate this feature on your iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.
Using ‘Remind when messaging’ on iPhone, iPad & Mac
To make use of the Remind when messaging feature on your device, all you have to do is follow each of the steps below:
- Open your Reminders app.
- Add a new reminder or you can also click on a previously added reminder.
- By the right side of the reminder, there is an info (‘i’) icon, click on it. If you don’t see the icon at first, tap on the reminder to display it.
- Turn on the Remind me when messaging “(When messaging a person on the macOS)” feature at the bottom of the list.
- Click on Choose Person.
- Make a selection of the desired person from your contact list.
- Then, click on Done.
When all these have been done, any time you send a message to that particular contact in your Messages app, the reminder will pop-up on your screen, and to mark the reminder as completed, all you have to do is tap on it when it pops up.
Do make sure you explore this new ‘Remind When Messaging’ feature on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, as it will help you avoid rushing at the eleventh hour, and also share your thoughts in the comment section when you try it out.
