How to Root Xiaomi Mi A2 / A2 Lite on Android Pie using Magisk

Make sure to download the patched boot image respective to your software version. For example, if your device is running on V10.0.4.0.PDLMIXM, then download V10.0.4.0.PDLMIXM patched boot image.

Steps to Root Xiaomi Mi A2 / A2 Lite using Magisk

  1. First, download the ADB and Fastboot drivers and extract it on your PC in C:/ drive
  2. Now make sure to download the patched boot image respective to your software version and save it inside the adb folder.
  3. In the ADB [platform tool] folder, Press and hold the shift key and click the right mouse button.
  4. This way you can open the command window or PowerShell. Open Command Window here
  5. Type the following command to temporarily boot the patched boot image
    .\fastboot boot <patched-boot-filename>.img

    for Linux/macOS:

    ./fastboot boot <patched-boot-filename>.img

    Replace the “patched-boot-filename” to the actual name of the downloaded patched boot image version.

  6. Now open the Magisk Manager app and install Magisk zip Install patched boot image TWRP
  7. That’s it! You have rooted Mi A2/A2 Lite using Magisk.
