Finally, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) variant started receiving the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update. Yes, The company skipped Android 8.0 Oreo for this device. The rollout currently begin in Vietnam and Russia, but it is expected to reach in other countries in a phased manner. The update is rolling via over-the-air (OTA), so be sure to check for an update manually in Settings in case if you have not received any notification.
Android 8.1 Oreo Update for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017
The update is now rolling via OTA in Vietnam and Russia which upgrades the build number on Vietnam with T385DXU2BRI4 and Russian variant with T385DXU2BRI6. Along with this update, Samsung has included the September 2018 security patch. After stepping up to Android 8.1 Oreo users will be able to enjoy new features it packs. This includes notification dots, PiP Mode, improved battery life, Autofill API, night light etc. With Samsung Experience 9.0 users can use the dual messenger feature. It enables the users to use two accounts on one Chat App.
You can manually check for the OTA update on Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017.
Simply Go to device Settings –> About Phone –> Software update.
By following the above method you can easily find if you have any latest update on your phone.
Before starting the OTA download process,
- Ensure your phone has enough battery backup with at least 50% battery.
- Check that your device has enough storage to download and install the update.
