How to Fix Samsung Internet Browser Not Playing Videos?

The solutions mentioned here are simple, and one of these solutions should help solve the problem on your Samsung smartphone.

Restart your device:

As simple as it may sound, sometimes all your smartphone needs is a simple restart to eliminate minor inconsistencies. So if you have not tried restarting your device, do so. After restarting the Samsung smartphone, if you still encounter issues while playing videos on the Samsung internet browser, move on to the next given solution.

Clear cache on your Android phone:

The cache memory stored on your phone can load content or data on your device quicker than usual, making it an excellent option to turn on if you are on a low-powered device. But this can also work against you if the data stored as a cache on your smartphone is corrupted. To fix this, you need to clear the cache data of your Samsung smartphone.

  • Open up Settings on your Samsung device.
  • Go to Storage / Application Manager.
  • Select Clear cache.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Uninstall insecure apps on your mobile:

If you have any apps installed on your smartphone that are not installed from official sources, these apps could also be the problem. Dubious or suspicious apps often block a device’s basic functions, which could also cause the video playback issue on your Samsung device. To fix this, you need to uninstall the suspicious apps.

Uninstalling suspicious apps is simple. All you need to do is to tap and hold on to the icon of the suspicious app and choose the option of remove or uninstall on your Samsung device. After removing the suspicious apps from your phone, play a video on your Samsung Internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Check your internet connection:

Maybe it’s a slow internet connection that is causing the streaming issue. Streaming content on any device requires a high speed, and depending on the quality, the speed varies. So try to see whether you can stream the content on a lower resolution. Lower resolution will mean lower bandwidth usage; hence, it should not buffer even with low internet speed. If your internet connection is working fine, but you still can’t stream videos on your Samsung browser, move on to the next given solution.

Restart the internet browser:

Restarting the app itself is sometimes enough to clean up any possible inconsistencies. Just tap and hold on to the Samsung browser and go to App info. There, choose the option Force Stop. After this, reopen the browser and check whether you can stream videos. If it is still not playing, move on to the next given solution.

Disable Ad-blocker and Add-ons:

Samsung browsers have a built-in feature to turn off ad-blocker and add-ons. This can sometimes work against you as most sites nowadays access their content if the user has an ad blocker on their browser. So, turn off these options and check whether that solves your problem.

  • Open the Samsung Internet browser app and tap on the menu icon.
  • Tap on Adblockers.
  • Turn off the toggle for ad blockers on the next page.
  • Go back to the home page and open the menu again.
  • This time select Add-ons.
  • Turn off the add-on option here.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Enable Javascript:

Javascript is a programming language that developers use to incorporate various features onto web pages. If it is disabled on your browser, that could also cause your issue with videos not loading.

  • Open the Samsung Internet browser.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Sites and Downloads.
  • Tap on Site Permissions.
  • Enable the toggle for Javascript.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Delete Browsing Data:

The browsing data stored on your web browser could be corrupted over time, leading to video streaming issues. To fix this, you need to clear all your browsing data.

  • Open the Samsung Internet browser.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Personal browsing data.
  • Go to Delete browsing data.
  • Select Cookies and site data and Cached images and files. Tap on the Delete data button to clear all of this.
  • Tap on delete again to confirm your action.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Turn off experimental features:

Samsung includes some experimental features in its browser to provide customization options to the user. However, this does not always work well. As the name suggests, these are all just experimental features, and not all are designed to work seamlessly with the device’s overall interface. So you need to turn off these features on your Samsung Internet browser and check whether that solves the video streaming issue on your browser.

  • Open the Samsung Internet browser.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Labs and then turn off all experimental features that you have enabled.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Clear Samsung Internet browser app data:

The app data stored for your browser can get corrupted over time, and the data that was supposed to make your app load faster is causing you issues now. So it is best to clear it up and see whether that solves your streaming issues.

  • Tap and hold the Samsung app icon and tap on the “i” icon from the menu.
  • Now go to Storage.
  • Tap the Clear data option and then Delete again to confirm your action.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Install VLC player/MX Player:

Some apps or video players are now available on the Play Store, which supports offline and online video streaming. You need to copy the link from your web browser and put it into one of the dedicated video players. It should start streaming for you.

MX Player and the VLC Media Player are the best third-party video streaming solutions options. You can install both players via the Google Play Store on your Samsung device.

Update the OS:

Samsung pushes out updates to their smartphones whenever a bug needs fixing. Even with the video streaming issue, an update could solve it all.

  • Open your phone’s settings.
  • Go to software update.
  • If there is any software update pending, it will show up here. Tap on Download and Install.
  • Once the update is complete, your phone will restart.

Now go back to playing a video on your Samsung internet browser. If it still does not work, move on to the next given solution.

Factory Reset your Smartphone:

If you have narrowed down the reason behind the rebooting issue as a firmware issue, then a factory reset is the only solution you have. However, a factory reset will mean clearing out everything on your phone. So if you do not have the crucial things in your smartphone backed up to the cloud or another device, then this is a step you should avoid. However, if you are okay with data sweep, go to Settings > General management > Reset. Then choose ‘Factory data reset,” followed by Reset, and finally, Delete All. If you get a screen to enter a PIN or password, then do that, and your phone will be reset.

Hard reset your device:

If the previous method did not work out for you, then the only option to try is the hard reset option. But hard resetting the device will also clean up every bit of data, including the files, messages, contacts, and everything else stored in the internal Storage. As the device is not turning on, there is no way you can back up your data. So try this method only if you are willing to lose your data.

Hold power and volume down buttons to hard Reset the Samsung device for a few seconds. As soon as the screen turns off and the logo disappears, let go of the volume down button and press and hold the volume up button while holding on to the power button. You will now see a black screen with a few yellow lines. Now your phone is in recovery mode. Using the volume keys move around the list of options and get to the” wipe data/factory reset” option. Then using the power key, select the option. After that, it will ask for confirmation. Using the volume buttons, highlight the yes option, and press the power button to select it.

After the Reset is complete, the smartphone will restart. If the Samsung device does not automatically turn on, press the power button to turn it on.
