T-Mobile Galaxy S8/S8+ October 2019 Security patch: G950USQU6DSJ3 / G955USQU6DSJ3

One of the major U.S. carriers, T-Mobile has started rolling out the October 2019 security patch for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones. To recall both the devices were launched in 2017 and packs in the-then latest Snapdragon 835 or the equivalent Exynos 8895 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage. However, the Galaxy S8 packed a 3000 mAh battery while plus variant packed in a 3500 mAh battery. The latest update from T-Mobile carries the version number G950USQU6DSJ3 for the Galaxy S8 while the Galaxy S8+ gets version number G955USQU6DSJ3.

The update for the T-Mobile update weighs in around 166MB for Samsung Galaxy S8 whereas the update for Galaxy S8+ weighs about 150MB in size. The updates are purely incremental in nature and do not bring any new features for either of the devices. Moreover, both the updates are based on the Android 9 Pie.

Note that the updates are being pushed via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the devices. However, if you have not yet received the notification on your device then, you can head to Settings > System Update > Download and install for manually checking for it. If there is a new notification of the update then, you can tap on it to install.
