The series garnered over 127.5 million hours watched in its first full week. Achieving a major milestone, it got placed in Netflix’s top 10 rankings. With the thrilling first season of The Sandman now over, viewers are left wondering: Will there be a second season? Let’s know the Sandman season 2 release date.

It’s obvious why The Sandman is so popular. It’s based on Neil Gaiman’s beloved DC comic series of the same name. The plot follows the intricate and imaginative journey of Morpheus (Tom Sturridge). We have seen him reclaim his kingdom of Dreams after being held captive by an occult society.

Filming for the first season of The Sandman began in October 2020 and concluded in August 2022, taking almost two years to complete. The project was released on Netflix in August 2022. Given that cameras began rolling during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis, it is likely the pandemic did not assist the situation.

Mason Alexander Park, a member of the cast, has declared that shooting for the second season will occur in the summer of 2023.

They told Collider: “We’re starting shooting in the summer, and we’re gonna tackle the next huge chunk of stories in however long that might take. And I am really excited to share what that might be with everybody, eventually.”

In order to make sure its visual effects look great, The Sandman necessitates an extensive post-production phase. Also, the time required to construct the practical sets and costumes. Therefore, The Sandman Season 2 will not be released for a while, with an expected production cycle running from 18 to 24 months. This would lead us to believe that the release date of the show will be sometime in the spring or summer of 2024.

We are sure to see Lucifer Morningstar’s vow of revenge on Morpheus play out at the end of the season, prior to the anthology episode. After that, Morpheus won the battle of wits to reclaim his helm from Hell.

Besides, a special episode with two additional stories from The Sandman universe – A Dream of a Thousand Cats and Calliope, heightened the anticipation for the second season. And Neil Gaiman’s hints of multiple spin-offs added to the excitement.

At this point, little is known about a potential The Sandman Season 2 Release Date. But there have been a few hints, like Netflix avoiding using the phrase “season 2” when discussing it.
