WhatsApp is the most popular messaging client available for both Android as well as iOS. However, in this era of developers, there was a third-party application called the GBWhatsApp that gives the user the ability to use some of the features that you do not get in the original version of the WhatsApp. But, in a recent turn of events, this popular third-party WhatsApp client GBWhatsApp has pulled the curtains on its operations and it has been shut down.
GBWhatsApp rose to popularity when another third-party WhatsApp client went under the knife called the WhatsApp+. These mod applications were shut down by WhatsApp due to the violation of the company’s policy. Besides, this strict action is again taken by WhatsApp targeting GBWhatsApp over the violation of policy. But, developers of some specific regions have found a way to actually evade the ban and continue using the GBWhatsApp. However, the official statement from the GBWhatsApp on their Telegram channel, states;
*GBWhatsApp Shuts Down*
We are really sorry to announce that we have completely stopped the development of GBWhatsApp.
It was a great time with all you people.
Sorry for the Inconvenience. Hence we have Closed all the Site, Social Accounts and Everything.
There will be no further Development.
So, this above official statement from the company clearly put every rumor of evading the ban, to rest. Moreover, the GBWhatsApp application is permanently shut down. The developers behind the GBWhatsApp are the same who also developed the WhatsApp+ and the GBWhatsApp 3.
These third-party client applications, even though provides the user some exciting features that the original version of the application fails to provide, there is always a great security concern with these applications. Moreover, some of the features that made GBWhatsApp popular are masking the last seen date, hiding the online status, hiding the view status while watching WhatsApp status, etc. Besides, you could also go ahead and customize the WhatsApp application by changing fonts and using dark mode as well. But, these features come to halt with the official shutdown of the popular WhatsApp client, GBWhatsApp.
The last official version of the GBWhatsApp came on June 2019 and will get expired at the end of August. Let us know in the comments what do you think about such third-party client applications and whether you trust them with security or not? Until the next post…Cheers!
