Verizon Galaxy S8/8+ receives October 2019 patch: G950USQS6DSJ1 / G955USQS6DSJ1

Samsung had quite an eventful year as they brought in the Galaxy S10 series, Note 10 series, and Galaxy Fold. Moreover, there were a few mid-rangers in between i.e. Galaxy M-series and the revamped Galaxy A-series devices. However, the company has also pushed the security updates for a lot of its older generation devices and the latest devices to get ticked off is 2017 launched Galaxy S8/S8+. Notably, the U.S. carrier Verizon has pushed the update that carries the version number G950USQS6DSJ1 for the Galaxy S8 and G955USQS6DSJ1 for Galaxy S8+.

In fact, the update is purely incremental in nature and does not bring anything new for the devices except the October patch. This is the 29th system update pushed by Verizon for the respective devices.

Note that the updates are being pushed via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the devices. However, if you have not yet received the notification on your device then, you can head to Settings > System Update > Download and install for manually checking for it. If there is a new notification of the update then, you can tap on it to install.
