Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Problems And How To Fix Them – WiFi, Bluetooth, Camera, SD, Sim, and More

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max is in some ways a bit similar to the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017), although it gets more RAM (4GB vs. the latter’s 3GB) and higher storage (at least when compared to the J7 (2017)’s European edition). It is powered by the Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20, but as we have come to know, MediaTek processors aren’t known for their performance. But then, Samsungs low-end Exynos Chips dont so so much of a better job than the MediaTek Chipsets.

But still it is always a wonder why Samsung would go for a Mediatek Processor as those chipsets (Mediatek Processors) are nothing to write home about when compared to other top chipsets like Snapdragon. Also, considering the device Spec to spec with other devices, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max would fall behind almost every phone in this price range (that is on paper).

But even so, it has a huge advantage over other budget phones produced by Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo and almost all others, excluding Motorola. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box, and is one of the few phones in this price range, that runs on the Android Nougat Software.

This is a good factor because, as we all know, Samsung’s history with updates on any of their budget devices are nothing to write home about, but by the looks of it, no one in this price range is interested in giving consumers an up to date operating system. So thumbs up to Samsung Mobile

Although, there is no denying the fact that the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max is not an absolute beautiful phone, as design wise that is where Samsung leads. The only problem is the fact that what is beauty without performance. Alot of users have been complaining about how their smartphones go from buttery smooth devices to ancient devices in as little as a few weeks of use. Below are the common problems found on the Galaxy J7 Max and quick fixes for them.

Common Problems

Please Note: As this is a recent phone, not all issues have been discovered. If you cannot find you problem listed here, kindly leave us a comment below and we will update this post.

So without further ado, here are the major/common issues found on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and how to fix each of them.

Samsung Galaxy J7 max Freezing/Lagging Issues

This is a really common case almost every smartphone user experiences. Particularly due to the fact we use our phones for long periods of time and during those times, a whole lot of data is accumulated on the phone which can eat up a lot of space and processing power. However, that’s not the case on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max.

But honestly, this came as no surprise at all simply because of the choice of chipset Samsung opted to use (The Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20) on this device. Luckily, the device ships with 4GB of RAM s this could be considered life saving but only just.

A lot of users have been complaining on how their devices feel like 6 month old devices only after just a few weeks of use. Well, you may experience this issue if you have noticed any of the following happen on your device:

  • Completely frozen device
  • Slow Performance when multi-tasking
  • Sluggish Responsiveness

If you have experienced any of this follow through with these steps

1. Restart Your Device: Always make sure to restart your device before taking any other step as it may contain the fix needed. Simply because “Restarting” your device kills all processes running and frees up a maximum amount of RAM which is a major performance boost.

If your device is completely frozen or unresponsive, don’t fret. Simply press down the Power Key and the Volume Down Key simultaneously for about 7 seconds and your phone should restart immediately.

2. Adjust Animation Settings: This may not be considered as a fix but it does help in some ways, ill explain further. By adjusting the animation settings, you’re in a way making your phone run faster. To do this, simply head over to Developer Options, scroll down till you find “Window animation scale”, “Transition animation scale”, and “Animator duration scale”. You can either turn them off or reduce them, depending on your choice.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Call Connectivity Issues

Sometimes, users of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max cannot answer or attend to calls by swiping on the Green button when receiving a call.

Here is a quick fix for it assuming you may have experienced this issue before.

1. Uninstall Unnecessary Apps:

2. Clear The Phone Application Cache: Clearing the application cache removes temporary files and frees up memory, but does not erase any data stored.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Applications.
  4. Tap Application manager.
  5. Scroll to and tap the phone app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap CLEAR CACHE.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Battery Draining Overnight Issue

This is not a common issue but sometimes the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max does experience some battery draining difficulties/issues, but as said before, it is not a very common issue so you may or may not be experiencing this issue. But, as a safety measure, i would recommend following the steps below to maybe prevent facing this issue in the future.

Well, you may experience this issue if you have noticed any of the following happen on your device:

  • Your battery has a big drain when you wake up the next morning
  • Your battery drains super fast

If you have experienced any of this follow through with these steps

1. Check All Installed Third Party Apps:  Make sure to check all installed third party apps as some of these apps may be secretly running in the background, draining you of your precious battery life. Also try turning off the Vibrate Setting for notifications when you are sure it is not needed. Vibration is a big battery draining culprit.

Try running your device in Safe Mode to see if there are improvements in the battery life. Running your device in Safe Mode will disable all third-party apps which will help you figure out if third-party apps are the cause of your battery drains.

To enter Safe Mode, follow these steps:

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
  • When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’

To exit Safe Mode, follow these steps:

  • Simply Restart your device and you should be out of Safe Mode

Also, it has been reported that some Galaxy J7 Max models, may or may not require you to press and hold the Volume Down Key during start up of your phone in the same manner as enabling it to exit Safe Mode.

2. Use S Power Savings: Power Saver reduces your device’s performance and limits vibration, location services and most background data to help improve battery life.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Settings > Battery.
  2. In the Power saving mode section tap one of the following then tap Apply:
    • Off
    • Mid
    • Max
  3. To adjust presets, tap Mid or tap Max then tap Customize.
    1. Drag the ‘Decrease brightness’ slider left or right.
    2. Tap any of the following to to turn “On” or “Off”:
      • Speed limiter
      • Background network usage

3. Check Wallpaper: If you are using a “Live Wallpaper”, i would recommend you remove it immediately as using a “Live Wallpaper” is a massive battery drainer ultimately preventing you from using your phone for as long as a full day.

4.Check SW Update: Regularly checking for software updates, making sure your phone is up to date can also help as battery drain can be fixed simply by having the latest system software update installed on your phone. Follow these simple steps to check for SW Updtates

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Settings > About Phone. If you find an update install it immediately.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Auto Rotate Problem

Despite the fact that the auto-rotate attribute is enabled in the settings it is not working correctly on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Device. This is also an issue about which a lot of  users have been complaining about.

You may have this issue if you notice one of the following

4. Check All Sensors: Sometimes it may be caused because of the detectors like accelerometer and G-sensor. Thus, you’re advised to get the GPS and Status Toolbox program for re calibration of these detectors and then check if this can solve the issue.

5. Use Rotation Control App: Rotation Control is just another program which is available in the Play Store, and it may function as fixes for this issue. This program allows you to switch on into the picture orientation manually.
