  1. At first, connect your iPhone SE to your Mac or a PC (iTunes required) with a Lightning cable.
  2. Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  3. Then press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  4. Next, press and hold the Power/Side button for around 10 seconds until the display turns black on the iPhone.
  5. Meanwhile, hold the Power/Side button, press and hold the Volume Down button for around 5 seconds, and then release the Power/Side button. But don’t release the Volume Down button for 10 seconds more. The display should remain black if properly done.
  6. Launch iTunes on your Mac or PC and you will see a message “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.”
  7. Finally, you’ll get an option to restore iOS on your iPhone SE.

How to Exit DFU Mode on iPhone SE

  • While your device is on the black DFU screen, you have to press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  • Then press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  • Finally, press and hold the Power/Side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • That’s it. Your device will boot into normal mode again.
