The F1 23 racing video game, developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports, is the newest addition to the F1 series. It boasts the official license for the 2023 Formula One and Formula 2 championships. Unfortunately, like any game, F1 23 has its share of issues. Some players have reported instances of crashing or loading difficulties on both PS4 and PS5 platforms.

Don’t worry if you’ve been encountering the same issue for some time now. We’ve provided a few potential solutions that could be helpful. While these techniques are standard for most game crashes on PlayStation consoles, it’s worth giving them a try. It’s unfair to hold developers responsible for such problems since there are several other possible causes for startup crashes or launch failures, as we’ve briefly outlined below.

1. Check System Updates

Before attempting any other solutions, it is advisable to first check for system updates on your PlayStation console. Outdated system builds may lead to various problems.

Go to the Settings menu on the PlayStation console.
Select System Software Update > check for available updates and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
Once done, reboot the system to apply changes.

1. Turn off the PlayStation console completely.

2. Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.

3. Connect the DualShock 4 controller to the console using a USB cable.

4. Press the PS button on the controller to start the console in Safe Mode.

5. Select “Rebuild Database” and press X on the controller.

6. Wait for the process to complete, which may take a few minutes.

7. After the process is complete, restart the console and check if the issue has been resolved.

Note: Rebuilding the database will not delete any of your saved game data or user information. It simply reorganizes and optimizes the data on the hard drive.

4. Reinstall F1 23

If the crashing problem continues to occur with the F1 23 game, it may be helpful to uninstall and reinstall the game on the console. This should resolve the issue. To do this:

Go to Settings > Select Storage.
Select the F1 23 game from the list and then Hit Delete.
Once the game is deleted, download and install it again from the respective store.

5. Reset the Console

If the suggested solutions are not helpful, consider performing a factory reset on your console to troubleshoot the issue.

Go to the Settings menu on the PlayStation console.
Select the ‘Initialization’ tab > Select ‘Initialize PS4’ or ‘Initialize PS5’.
From the next page, choose ‘Full.’
Your PlayStation 4/5 will automatically start wiping itself to restore the factory defaults. This process may take a couple of hours, depending on the installed data on the storage.
Let the process be completed. Once done, make sure to reboot the system.
