Haier TV Not Turning On Fix

How to Fix Haier TV Not Turning On?

Unplug And Reboot The TV:

Before trying anything else, unplug the TV from the power source and turn it off entirely. Make sure your TV is switched off and unplugged. Now, press the physical power button on the TV for at least 15 seconds. After that, wait for at least 2 minutes for any residual power to drain from the TV’s capacitors. After waiting for a minimum period of two minutes, put the plug of your TV back into the socket. Turn on the power of the TV and press the power button on your remote.

This will work like a reset for the TV giving it a proper reset. If this does not work with the Haier TV, move on to the next solution.

Try the button beneath the monitor:

There will be a button at the bottom of the Haier smart TV. Pressing on it turns the monitor off or on. So press it right away and see if anything pops up on your screen. If it does not show anything, try cleaning the button area and try again.

If your Haier TV is still not turning on, try the next solution.

Check Power Supplies:

Ensure all your power supplies are working. If the voltage of your household has gone down, your TV might not be getting the wattage it requires to turn on. It could also be a fuse issue. Check the other appliances in your house that require a high amount of power and verify whether they are working fine or not. If they are also behaving abnormally, the problem is with the power supply. You need to call home an electrician and check everything in your house.

You can also call the local authorities responsible for providing electricity and ask whether there is an issue with the current supply.

If everything is working well in terms of power supply, but you are still witnessing the issue, try the next solution.

Check the Wall Switch:

Over time, the contacts in a wall switch might get dusty or rusted. Again, the plastic or metal parts inside the wall switch may become loose and allow it to move around. This can prevent the power socket from making a good connection with the contact points on your Haier TV’s power cable. To fix this, you need first to check your switch. Firstly, remove the faceplate from the wall switch. Then clean any debris or dust that you see using a piece of cloth. You need to turn off the power supply before trying all of it, and a simple mistake can get you electrocuted. After cleaning and tightening everything inside the wall switch, put the faceplate back and turn the power on.

If your TV is still not turning on, try the next solution.

Inspect The Display Cables:

The cable you are using to connect your TV to your set-top box needs to be in working condition. Ensure that the cable fits well at both ends with no gap between the port and the cable. Even the smallest gap can cause the TV not to turn on.

You also need to check the cable for any visible damage. If there is any tear in the cable or any part of it looks burnt, you need to change it. You can find such a cable in any electrical store near your house.

If the TV turns on after changing the display cable, you have your solution. The display cable was indeed the culprit. But if the TV does not turn on even after changing the cable, try the next solution.

Test the power cord:

Take out the power cord connecting the TV and the power socket. Now plug that cable into another TV or monitor. If it works well with the other devices, move on to the final solution. But if it does not work with the other device, you have your answer. The power cable is the culprit. Like the display cable, you can find a new power cable in any electrical store near your house. Trying out the new cable should solve the problem for you.

Check Your Haier TV Remote:

This can be a possible solution for you if you see the red light turning on for your TV when you plug in the cable. The red light turning on indicates that the device is getting the power it needs. Its just the remote that is not working. So get yourself a universal remote and use that to turn on your TV. That should do the trick.

Do note that this fix will work only if your TV’s red light turns on when plug in the TV.

Haier TV Turns On But Black Screen:

If your TV turns on but you only see a black screen even when you use a working remote, it could be a motherboard failure or a backlight failure. You can fix this on your own, but you will require some repairing skills and replacement parts to get the job done efficiently.

Usually, the backlight does not fail on a TV. In reality, the power board fails most of the time and this results in the backlight not receiving the required power to turn on. Since checking the power board or backlight would require you to open up the TV’s chassis, you need to be certain that it is indeed a backlight issue. And to check that, follow the instructions mentioned below.

  • Turn on your TV.
  • Get close to the TV screen and point your phone’s flashlight directly onto the TV screen.
  • Change channels using the remote.
  • If there is a backlight issue, you will see some faint images on your TV screen that look like the screen is flickering. If that is the case, you can be certain that the backlight is at fault.

As mentioned above, you can change the parts on your own. But we would advise you to contact a professional and get help from them.

Contact support:

If none of the above solutions worked for you, the problem is with your TV’s hardware. In that case, you need to contact Haier support. You can find information on contacting them right on their website. You can also visit the nearest Haier service center and try to get the device fixed. If it is under warranty, you may even get it replaced by them.
