Method 1: Bypass Windows 10 admin password with software

Using a specialized tool like iSumsoft Windows Password Refixer to solve Windows password problems typically yields twice the result with half the effort. This is one of the best Windows 10 Password Reset tools, allowing you to bypass Windows 10 password in a few minutes without data loss. Simply follow the steps below.

Step 1: Create a password reset disk.

Because your computer is locked, you need to create a password reset disk for it using iSumsoft Windows Password Refixer on another working computer. If you don’t have a second computer, borrow one from a friend.

On another working computer, download and install iSumsoft Windows Password Refixer.

Run iSumsoft Windows Password Refixer and select USB device.

Insert a USB drive into the computer and click the Begin Burning button.

Click Yes when prompted, and the software will successfully create a Windows password reset disk for you in seconds.

Step 2: Boot your locked computer from the disk.

Insert the password reset disk (USB) into your locked computer on which you want to bypass your Windows 10 admin password.

Start or restart your computer, and as soon as the first screen appears, press and hold the Boot Menu key (usually Esc, F12, F11 or F10, depending on the manufacturer of the computer) to access the Boot Menu.

On the Boot Menu, choose the USB device as the primary boot device and your computer will boot from the USB drive.

Step 3: Bypass Windows 10 admin password.

iSumsoft Windows Password Refixer will appear on your screen after your machine has finished booting from the password reset disk.

Select your Windows 10 system, then the admin account whose password you want to bypass, and then click Reset Password.

Click Yes when prompted, and your Windows 10 account password will be deleted immediately.

Click Reboot, and when prompted, click Yes and immediately remove the USB drive. Your computer will then boot to Windows 10.

When you are at the Windows 10 login screen, you can sign in without entering a password.

Method 2: Bypass Windows 10 admin password with Command Prompt

If you hope to bypass your Windows 10 admin password without using any third-party software, the Command Prompt trick is for you. Whether you’re logged in or locked out, the Command Prompt allows you to reset or bypass forgotten Windows local account passwords without losing data. Here is how to bypass Windows 10 admin password using Command Prompt when you are locked out.

Step 1: Boot to Advanced Startup Options.

Make sure your computer is turned off.

Press the Power button to turn on your computer, and as soon as you see the Windows logo, press and hold the Power button until your computer shuts down.

Repeat the above process, and your computer will boot to the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.

Choose Advanced options and your computer will boot to the Advanced Startup Options screen.

Tips: If your computer can’t boot to the Advanced Startup Options screen through the above steps, you will need to use a Windows installation disk to boot your computer.

Step 2: Replace Utilman.exe with CMD.exe.

On the Advanced Startup options screen, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Image Recovery.

When the “Re-image your computer” wizard appears, choose Cancel, then Next.

On the following page, click Advanced, choose Install a driver, and then click OK.

An Open dialog box will appear. Choose This PC, then locate and open the operating system drive where your Windows 10 is installed.

When you’re in the OS drive, open the Windows\System32 folder, locate the file Utilman, and rename it to Utilman1. To view the changes, you must press F5 to refresh the folder.

Locate the cmd file and rename it Utilman. Doing so replaces the Utility Manager application Utilman.exe, which is used to configure Accessibility options, with the Command Prompt application CMD.exe.

Keep clicking Cancel to close all windows on the screen and you’ll get back to the Choose an option screen. This time, choose Continue to let your computer boot to Windows 10.

Step 3: Bypass Windows 10 admin password.

When you are on the Windows 10 login screen, click the Erase of Access (Accessibility) icon in the lower right corner. This will bring up a Command Prompt window instead of the Accessibility menu.

In the Command Prompt window, type net user username password, and press Enter. This will bypass your forgotten Windows 10 password and set a new one. You need to replace the “username” in the command with the actual name of your administrator account, and the “password” with the desired new password, for example, net user Carol 123456.

Then, you can log in to Windows 10 with your new admin password. If you need to put the Ease of Access utility back where it was, simply go to the Windows\System32 folder on your OS drive and rename the Utilman file to CMD and the Utilman1 file to Utilman.
