List of Android 10 Supported Nokia Devices

Nokia is a well-known smartphone brand after it became hugely popular back in the hay days after losing to Samsung and other brands including its decision to keep away from Android and rather roll out Windows Mobile OS Lumia series. However, it was in 2017 when Nokia rolled out its first smartphone compatible with Android OS and from then, there’s no point of return. In 2018, Nokia listed all its Android-enabled smartphones under Android One program which promises guaranteed upgrades for two years i.e. from Android Oreo to Android Pie to Android 10 for sure.

There are a series of phones launched within the last two years featuring Nokia 7.0 Nougat and above. Android 10 is the latest among Google’s Android operating system and it is open-source. It is the only OS that competes with another giant Apple iOS both of which are currently being operated in more than 1bn units worldwide. Androi

Update as of March 27: According to the latest update, the Nokia 2.2 is now getting yet another security patch based on Android 10. This means that the Android 11 is still elusive. [Source]

List of Android 10 Q Supported Nokia Devices

Android 10 brings a lot of must-wanted functionalities and a string of features that Android users were waiting for such as the system-wide dark mode that changes how the app and the firmware look and feels. Furthermore, Android 10 sports a revamped navigational gesture and UI with slick and slim icons and is faster than its predecessor i.e. Android Pie. The firmware also brings must-wanted privacy and security attuned features such as it will automatically block permission requests from any background apps, it will allow users to keep a tab on apps using vivid services and more.

Since Nokia hasn’t published the list of Android 10 supported Nokia devices, here’s what I have created for the reference citing the usual strategy followed by Nokia when upgrading its phones.

Android 10 Features

Dark Mode: With many apps going Dark over the craze of Dark theme, Android 10 introduces this feature system-wide. It will paint everything dark when selected including apps so all Google apps are already compatible while there are hundreds of third-party apps that have already rolled out their Dark mode feature while many will be updating their apps soon.

Focus Mode: Don’t want that particular app to distract you from work or from doing something else? Well, activate Focus Mode and add the app into the list and you won’t hear a thing until you manually remove it from the list.

Family Link: With this feature in place, parents will have greater control over which apps their children are exposed to and how much time they spend on their phones. Family Link offers screen time as well as option to limit it, insights on apps in use, content restriction and more.

Live Caption: Don’t worry if there are no subtitles while watching a movie or listening to a song or hearing podcasts as Live Captions will transcribe everything you need at real-time.

Smart Reply: With Smart Reply, the AI will access the context of the messages or emails received and provide a few suggestions or answers that you can single tap and send. Android 10 also adds a new action suggestion button which provides a single tap redirection to any other app based on the content of the message such as it will redirect you to Google Maps if there’s any location within the message.

Security Updates: Starting from Android 10, the Project Mainline promises a few critical bug fixes and monthly security updates via Google Play Store. This will allow Android smartphones with Android 10 and above to update to the latest security updates faster than the traditional OTA updates.

Gesture Navigation: Android 10 will make use of screen real estate by using the right & left edges to go backward in an app or settings. You can also use the slider on the bottom to drag between apps, open app overview, or visit the Home screen and that’s all without interfering or munch any space on the screen.

The device hosts a 6.18-inch PureDisplay and it has a single front and dual rear camera setup. Nokia 8.1 is already running on Android 10 Beta 4 and will get the upgrade as soon as Google releases it officially in August this year.

Here’s the link to upgrade to the latest update.

Update as of October 8: Nokia 5.1 was earlier scheduled to get the Android 10 update in Q2 2020. List of Nokia Devices That Might Not Get The Upgrade

Released in the Year 2017

Note that some of the phones listed here that run on Android OS might get Android 10 although we aren’t sure about it yet.

Nokia 7 Nokia 2 Nokia 3310 3G /Dual
Nokia 105 (2017) Nokia 8 Nokia 3310
Nokia 3 Nokia 5 Nokia 6

Nokia has numerous phones released in 2016 and before, however, none had Android OS and thus, I haven’t listed the devices here.

What to do if my Nokia phone isn’t getting the update?

Almost every smartphone from Nokia listed under Android One program with a release date in the two years with Android Oreo out-of-the-box is actually eligible for Android 10 now. In fact, Nokia has one of the most simplified manners in which it releases Android updates there aren’t many phones to end support unless the phone was released in 2017 even then, there will be some smartphones that will get the update.

However, if you are using an Android-powered Nokia smartphone which has already received two updates or was released way to early in 2017, you can try custom ROMs such as LineageOS or Pixel Experience, etc. You need to check if your device is supported by these custom ROMs are not and if yes, the process could be cumbersome but once installed, you can enjoy added features, functionalities and of course, an all-new user interface for sure. Hope this list of Android 10 supported Nokia devices satisfies your query.
