OnePlus 7T Software Update | OxygenOS 12 MP2 (October 2022)

OnePlus has always been at the forefront when it comes to delivering the latest updates for its phones. Well, this is also one of the reasons why users prefer the OnePlus brand over other smartphone OEMs. For those who do not know, OnePlus offers 3 years of major OS updates along with regular security updates. This is just in line with the Google Pixel phones which also get three OS updates. On top of that, you also get regular security updates. OnePlus 7T – Device Specification

OnePlus released the OnePlus 7T back in 2019 and it comes with the then-latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The phone offers up to 8GB of RAM and options of 128/256 GB of onboard storage. OnePlus 7T also has UFS 3.0 for faster data transfer. The phone sports a 6.55-inch display with a 90Hz high refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 5 protection all around the phone, with Dual SIM and dual standby. Other features of the screen include 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio, 402 PPI density, and HDR10+. In the camera department, the phone comes with a triple camera setup with a 48 MP primary lens, a 12MP telephoto, and a 16 MP ultrawide lens.

The camera is capable of recording, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps, 720p@960fps, and has Auto HDR, as well as gyro-EIS. In the front, the phone comes equipped with a 16MP selfie camera which is housed in a water-drop notch. It has an under-display fingerprint scanner along with a 3,800 mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T and Fast Charging 30W support. Under the hood, the phone comes rocks the Android 10 OxygenOS 10 software out of the box and is well in line to receive the upcoming Android 11 update.

How to check for software updates on OnePlus 7T

  • Open the Settings app on your phone.
  • Head over to System.
  • Then tap on System Updates.
  •  Tap on Check for updates to see if a new update is available for your phone or not.
  • If a new update is available, you will be prompted to download the update on your phone.

How to install the update?

There are notably two ways via which you can install the latest update on your OnePlus 7T. The first method is via the local update, the second method is using the recovery.

Update locally

  1. Download the latest firmware file from the above tracker respective to your region.
  2. Place the firmware zip file into the root folder of your phone’s internal storage.
  3. Head over to Settings.
  4. Tap on System Update.
  5. Then select the gear icon and tap on Local Upgrade.
  6. Locate the firmware zip file and tap on it.
  7. Click on Install to start the update process.

Update using recovery

  1. Download the latest firmware file from the above tracker respective to your region.
  2. Place the firmware zip file into the root folder of your phone’s internal storage.
  3. Turn OFF your OnePlus 7T.
  4. Press and hold the Power and Volume down button together to boot into recovery mode.
  5. Select the language for recovery.
  6. Tap on Install from Storage Device.
  7. Locate and select the firmware zip file from your internal storage.
  8. Click on the file and confirm the update process.
