Oppo A53 and A53S Android 11 (ColorOS 11) Update Tracker

Oppo is yet to make a name for itself when it comes to rolling out timely software updates. It always lags behind in rolling out the latest updates. Android 11 is a hot topic right now. Google introduced the Android 11 OS back in September and a few OEMs including Google, OnePlus, and recently Samsung, have joined the list are pushing the stable OS updates for its eligible device. And just like other OEMs, Oppo is also prepping up for starting the Android 11 beta program for its devices. Oppo is known to release at least one major OS update for its devices.

Note that there is not much of a difference between the two devices, but Oppo being Oppo introduced the device in a matter of a couple of months. Oppo A53

Oppo launched the Oppo A53 in August 2020 and it is powered by the Snapdragon 460 chipset. It is coupled with 4/6GB of RAM and offers 64/128GB of onboard storage. It comes with a 6.5-inch 720p IPS LCD panel that has the popular 90Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with Android 10 ColorOS 7.2 out of the box is expected to get upgraded to Android 11 ColorOS 11.

Talking about the cameras, the Oppo A53 packs a triple camera setup with a 13MP primary, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. The phone is capable of recording 1080p@30fps. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera. Oppo A53 has stereo speakers and the fingerprint scanner is mounted on the back of the phone. Under the hood, the phone is juiced by a 5000 mAh battery that supports fast charging 18W.

The Oppo A53s is almost similar to its kin, the Oppo A53. However, there are a few differences. Like there is an obvious ‘S’ moniker attached to the name of the device, and the Oppo A53s comes with 128GB of storage.

Apart from these changes, there is hardly anything that is different between Oppo A53 and A53s. Oppo launched the A53s in October, with these minute changes and it costs around $50 more than the Oppo A53.

Updated on August 2, 2021: OPPO A53 bags ColorOS 11 (Android 11) stable update. The update is rolling in India and Indonesian region, the system update arrives with firmware version C.12.

Updated on July 04, 2021: Oppo A53 started receiving April 2021 security patch update via OTA with version CPH2127_11_A.77.

Updated on March 28, 2021: Oppo A53 started receiving February 2021 security patch update via OTA with version CPH2127_11_A.65.

Update 1 (January 31. 2021)

Today Oppo rolled the November 2020 security patch for the device with build number CPH2139_11_A.57. The update is still based on Android 10.

Update 1 (December 4)

Updated on December 4, 2020: Oppo has released the complete Android 11 ColorOS 11 beta and stable rollout plans on Twitter. Notably, the beta and stable updates will be rolled out from this month, i.e. December. Here is when your devices will get the update:
