Android 17 has reached Samsung Galaxy phones as One UI 9. Google released Android 17 as a stable build on June 16, 2026, and Samsung began rolling out One UI 9 on top of it from September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26 series after about four months of beta testing.
Before the list, one caveat: Samsung hasn’t published a full official eligibility list. The devices below are based on Samsung’s update policy (four generations of OS upgrades on most recent Galaxy phones, seven on the newest flagships and tablets) and on the rollout so far, so treat it as a strong guide that can shift as Samsung confirms more models.
Android 17 and One UI 9: what’s the difference?
Android 17 is Google’s platform. One UI 9 is the software Samsung builds on top of it. When your Galaxy phone updates to One UI 9, you’re getting Android 17 underneath with Samsung’s interface, Galaxy AI tools and features over it.

How to check for the One UI 9 update
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install. If One UI 9 is available for your model and region, it will appear here.
- Connect to Wi-Fi, keep the phone above 50% charge, and install the update.
Samsung pushes updates in batches by region, so it can take a few weeks after the official release before your phone sees it.
Frequently asked questions
Is One UI 9 the same as Android 17?
One UI 9 is Samsung’s software built on Android 17. You get the Android 17 platform with Samsung’s interface and Galaxy AI features on top.
Has Samsung confirmed the full device list?
Not in full. The list here is based on Samsung’s update policy and the rollout so far, and Samsung may adjust it.
Does the Galaxy S22 get Android 17?
No. The Galaxy S22 series has used up its four guaranteed OS upgrades (ending at Android 16), so it stays on One UI 8. The same applies to the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
When will my phone get it?
The Galaxy S26 series is first, followed by the S25, S24 and recent foldables, with the S23 series, A-series phones and tablets continuing into early 2027.
How many more updates will my Galaxy get?
Phones from the Galaxy S24 onward, plus recent foldables and Tab S10/S11 tablets, are promised seven years of OS updates. Older models like the S23 get four, so Android 17 is near the end of their cycle.
