How to Turn on and Off Automatic Clicks in Chromebook?

This feature is available on Chrome OS 2015 and later. You need to update your OS to get this feature if you are on an older version. So firstly, we will mention how you can turn it on and then how you can turn it off. Both the processes are similar, though.

How to Enable Automatic Clicks in Chromebook?

  • Open up the Quick Settings panel in the bottom right corner.
  • Click on the cogwheel icon to open up Settings.
  • On the Settings page, click on Advanced in the left sidebar.
  • Now, click on the “Accessibility” options to open it up.
  • Click on “Manage accessibility features.”
  • Look for the “Mouse and touchpad” section. Under it, look for the option “Automatically click when the cursor stops.” Once you see it, turn on the toggle for it.

Now, you can close every window on your screen. You will notice that the feature is now enabled in your Chromebook.

How to Disable Automatic Clicks in Chromebook?

Disabling the feature is similar to what you did above. You must follow the same steps as before, but instead of turning on the toggle for the option “Automatically click when the cursor stops,” you need to disable it. That will be enough to turn off the feature until you feel like you need it again.

How to Customize it?

The automatic click feature in Chromebook comes with several customization options.

Firstly, a floating window feature will stay in the bottom right corner of your screen and let you choose between Left-click, Right-click, Double-click, Click and Drag, and Scroll functions of the mouse. You can map any of these mouse functions to your automatic click function.

Secondly, you get the option to set the time for the delay before a mouse click. Instantaneous mouse click whenever you stop can be troublesome for the user. So you get the option to set a time delay for the automatic click function to do its work.
