ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G Android 12 Update | Installation Guide

The much-awaited Android 12 Beta 1 is now live for a list of eligible devices officially by Google. ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G is newly launched in April 2021, also known as ZTE Axon 30 Pro+ that comes with Android 11 on top of MyOS 11 out-of-the-box. After pushing a couple of Android 12 Developer Preview builds to its eligible Pixel models, Google has finally released the first beta build for some other OEM devices to get into it. Once Google releases the Android 12 stable update in September 2021 officially, the rest of the OEMs will also start pushing Android 12 based updates to their respective devices.

Talking about the Android 12 Beta features as of now, it has a whole new notification shade interface, redesigned volume slider, improved icons, improved settings UI, enhanced app privacy features, one-handed mode, privacy dashboard, improved lock screen UI, etc. Additionally, it offers Material You (U) design, better widgets, bigger buttons, improved animations, etc.

Although Android 12 Beta is in the initial stage and may not offer every single feature as well as may contain multiple bugs or errors, if you’re interested enough to get an early taste of the all-new Android OS version on your ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G, you can follow this guide completely.

Please Note: Currently, the early access of the Android 12 Beta only works on ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G model (China market). As the name suggests, the Beta build is only meant for developers and beta testers, not for everyone.

Known Issues:

  • Users can not set Pattern or PIN or Password in the settings-security-screen lock. After rebooting, the device will reboot repeatedly. After several times reboot, the device will enter into recovery mode. “Factory data reset” will fix the problem
  • The default browser can not access the internet occasionally. 3rd party browser should be fine.

Requirements:

  • This guide is only for the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G model.
  • Make sure the battery level is more than 30%.
  • At least 3GB of available storage space is required on your handset.

MP Version = Stable Official Version

BP Version = Android 12 Beta Version

MP to BP upgrade guide – via Local OTA Update

Note: This upgrade method will erase all data on your phone. Please make sure to backup first.

Step 1. Download the upgrade zip package from the link above on your handset.

Step 2. Unzip the zip package that you’ve just downloaded.

Step 3. After unzip, you will find the “update. zip” file in the folder.

Step 4. Please put the update.zip file in the root directory ( /sdcard ) of your device. (For example: adb push update.zip /sdcard/)

Step 5. Then go to device Settings > System and update > System update > Tap on the respective installation package > Upgrade > System upgrade.

Step 6. After the upgrade is complete, tap on RESTART NOW.

Step 7. The firmware update will be successful.

Step 8. Go through the initial setup process. Enjoy!
