Google released Android 17 (codenamed Cinnamon Bun) on June 16, 2026, and as usual, only a handful of phones got it on day one. Most of us are left waiting for a manufacturer update that may never come. That’s where custom ROMs come in, and the big projects have finally caught up. LineageOS 24, crDroid 13 and Evolution X 12 all run on Android 17, and between them they already cover well over 150 devices.
This page lists which phones have Android 17 custom ROM builds right now, with links to each project’s official download pages. We’ll keep adding devices as new builds go live.
What’s new in Android 17
Android 17 is a fairly big update. You get optional split notification and Quick Settings panels, system-wide app bubbles with a bubble bar on large screens, and app-level password protection. Privacy gets a boost from a new contacts picker that lets apps see only the contacts you choose, and the status bar now shows a location indicator when an app is using your location. Under the hood, there’s support for VVC video playback (on hardware that can decode it) and new memory management features.
One change matters a lot for custom ROMs. Starting in 2026, Google only publishes Android source code twice a year, in Q2 and Q4. So ROM developers had to wait for the Android 17 code to land before they could start building, which is why most Android 17 ROMs only arrived in August, September and October.
Before you flash an Android 17 custom ROM
- Your phone’s bootloader must be unlocked. Many brands, Xiaomi included, now require you to apply for unlock permission first.
- Flashing a ROM usually wipes your data, so take a full backup of your phone before you start.
- Check the exact codename of your phone. Variants that look identical can use different builds, and flashing the wrong one can soft brick the device.
- Charge your phone to at least 60%, and install the latest ADB and Fastboot tools (Android SDK Platform Tools) on your PC.
- Older phones running Linux kernel 4.4 or 4.9 generally won’t get official Android 17 builds. LineageOS, for example, keeps those devices on its Android 15 branch.

A few devices on this list were still waiting for their first build when LineageOS 24 launched, so if you don’t see a 24.0 download for your phone yet, check back in a few days.
crDroid 13 (Android 17) supported devices
crDroid 13 started rolling out on October 11, 2026. It keeps the clean LineageOS base but adds far more customization options, so it’s a popular pick if you want to tweak the status bar, lock screen and gestures. New devices are added as their maintainers finish builds, so this list will grow quickly.
If your phone isn’t in the table, check the crDroid downloads page. Some devices are still on crDroid 12 (Android 16) while their maintainers work on the update.
Evolution X 12 (Android 17) supported devices
Evolution X was one of the first ROMs to move to Android 17, with builds appearing in August 2026. It aims for a Pixel-like experience with Google apps built in, plus a good set of extra features. The current release is Evolution X 12.2, and these devices have received official Android 17 builds so far:
Evolution X supports around 130 active devices in total, and many of them are still being moved over to the Android 17 base. Open your phone’s page from the Evolution X device list to see which version it’s on.
How to install an Android 17 custom ROM
The exact steps depend on your phone and the ROM, so always follow the install guide on your device’s official page. The general process looks like this:
- Unlock the bootloader of your phone.
- Download the ROM build for your exact codename, along with any recovery or boot image files the install guide asks for.
- Reboot to Fastboot mode and flash the custom recovery that comes with the ROM.
- Boot into that recovery and do a factory reset (format data) if you’re coming from stock firmware or a different ROM.
- Use ADB sideload to flash the ROM zip, then flash Google apps if the ROM doesn’t include them.
- Reboot. The first boot can take several minutes.
If your phone is supported by LineageOS 24, you can skip most of this by using the browser-based installer at flash.lineageos.org. It works with ADB, Fastboot and Samsung’s Odin protocol.
Frequently asked questions
Is my phone getting Android 17?
Officially, that’s up to your manufacturer. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 were the first phones to ship with it, and other brands are rolling it out to their recent models over the coming months. For phones that are out of official support, the custom ROMs above are the most reliable way to run Android 17.
Which Android 17 custom ROM should I pick?
Go with LineageOS if you want stability and the widest device support. crDroid is the better choice if you like customizing everything, and Evolution X suits people who want a Pixel look with Google apps already installed.
Will my banking apps work on a custom ROM?
Some will and some won’t. Apps that rely on Google’s Play Integrity checks may refuse to run on an unlocked bootloader, so check your important apps before you switch.
Can I go back to stock firmware?
Yes. You can flash your phone’s original firmware with the official tool for your brand, such as Mi Flash Tool for Xiaomi or Odin for Samsung. Doing so will wipe your data again.
We’ll keep updating this list as more Android 17 builds roll out. If your phone has an unofficial Android 17 build that we’ve missed, mention it in the comments.
