Asus ROG Ally

Switch to DX 11:

The latest DX available for the Asus ROG Ally is DX 12. But not all games are yet compatible with this version. So if you are using DX 12, switch to DX 11 and check whether that solves your problem.

To install or downgrade from DX 12, uninstall DirectX 12 from your device and install the DX 11 version from the web. We recommend using the Direct X 11 installer you can find on the official site of DirectX.

If changing the DX version does not help, move on to the next solution.

Switch to Lower resolution:

Most games run well when the graphics settings are set to a lower value. And if the game crash issues are too frequent on your ROG ally, you should also try this. Open the games on your device, and go to their settings page. For the video or graphics settings page, set the value as low as possible and the resolution lower than what was selected. This should reduce the load on the CPU impr, moving gameplay.

If setting a lower resolution did not help, move on to the following solution.

Reinstall the game:

If one particular game is crashing while the others are working well, the problem could also be with the installation. To resolve this, try reinstalling the game and check whether that solves your problem with the random crashes.

You should also check the system requirements of the game you are trying to play on the Ally. The game will crash if the specifications are less than expected. In that case, you need to try some other game altogether.

Borderless Window Mode:

ROG Ally comes with different window modes to choose from—unfortunately, most game crashes when the Window mode is not set to Borderless Window mode. So if you have some other window mode enabled on your device, change it and check whether that solves your problem. If the crashing is unresolved on your ROG Ally, move on to the next fix.

Increase VRAM:

It would be best to try increasing the VRAM on your ROG Ally to 8GB. For some users, this has ironed out the sudden crash issue on their devices.

Switch Desktop Mode:

By default, the games you play on the ROG Ally are full-fledged PC games. So if you are not on the Desktop mode, the games might crash due to incompatibility issues. To resolve this, set the game to run in Desktop Mode.

If this does not help, move on to the final fix below.

Disable Mods:

Some of us like to use Mods with our games. These can work sometimes, but game mods usually,y crash games due to compatibility issues. Any unverified modifications to the game could cause it to act up, which is when you encounter random crashes.

So ensure that you run the original version of everything on your ROG Ally and have no crack or MOD installed. This should take care of the random crashing issue for you.
