Ways to fix Fire Stick which does not connect to a Wi-Fi

Now we will discuss the potential fixes that will definitely fix your Fire Stick. We recommend you to follow all the fixes as most probably one or the other will surely work for you.

Fix 1: Check the Router Connection

It is important to, first of all, check certain things with the router. A Fire TV Stick will connect to a Wi-Fi only when your Wi-Fi router is properly working. You need to make sure that it is connected with the Fire TV Stick and that there is no hindrance in the connection. If you find the DHCP disabled, you should then assign a static IP to the Fire TV Stick.

It will be best if you also make sure that the router is connected only to a set number of devices. In case, the number of connections has reached the maximum, you can increase the settings for the number of connections. Alternatively, you can disconnect some other devices to adjust the Fire TV Stick connection.

One more hindrance to Fire TV Stick connection can be in the router admin panel. It is possible that your Fire TV Stick is blocked or blacklisted in the router admin panel. In such a case, you just need to unlock or whitelist your Fire TV Stick in the router admin panel and then connect it to the Wi-Fi network.

Fix 1: Connect Fire TV Stick to an HDMI Extender

It is possible that your Fire TV Stick does not properly fit into the HDMI port of your TV. All you need to do is to use the HDMI extender of your Fire TV Stick. It will not only make sure that the stick fits properly, but it will also improve the Wi-Fi network connectivity. Also, the Fire TV remote will work better with an extender.

Fix 2: Unhide Wi-Fi SSID

If your Wi-Fi network is not showing in the list of available networks on your Fire TV Stick, then it is possible that your Wi-Fi network is set as hidden. In such a situation, you should either unhide your Wi-Fi network or else connect the Fire TV Stick to the hidden Wi-Fi network. For connecting to the hidden Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the settings menu of your Fire TV Stick

Step 2: Select Network.

Step 3: Scroll down to where you find ‘Join Other Network.’ Click on it

Step 4: Then, you need to enter the SSID (read: name) of the Wi-Fi network. Then proceed by clicking on the Play/Pause button.

Step 5: Select the network’s security type and again proceed by clicking on the Play/Pause button.

Step 6: Now enter the password of your network and proceed by clicking on the Play/Pause button.

Step 7: Finally, confirm the details you have provided of the network and tap CONNECT (Play/Pause button on the remote). This way, you can connect your Fire TV Stick to the hidden Wi-Fi network.

Fix 3: Reboot Router

In case there is no issue with the Router connection or the network visibility, and the Fire TV Stick is still not connecting, then you should go for the rebooting option. You simply have to reboot your router and then connect the Fire TV Stick again to the router. This way, you can fix problems that are internal to the system.

Fix 4: Reboot Fire TV Stick

Rebooting the Fire TV Stick can be done by following these steps:

Using Remote Shortcut

You need to tap and hold the play/pause button, and the Select button on the remote control of your Fire TV Stick remote, together for a few seconds. This will generate a message saying ‘Your Amazon Fire TV is Powering Off’ and would automatically reboot the Fire TV Stick.

From Settings Menu

Step 1: Go to the Fire TV stick Settings menu.

Step 2: Select ‘My Fire TV’.

Step 3: Now select Restart

Step 4: To confirm, select the Restart option.

This will power off the Fire TV Stick, and it would restart immediately.
