Nvidia Corporation is a well-known technology company that specializes in designing and producing graphics processing units (GPUs). In order to properly run graphics-intensive programs, a compatible driver software for the Windows operating system and machine is required for a video card or GPU. However, it appears that in 2023, users of Nvidia graphics cards will not be able to use the graphics driver as NVIDIA Drivers will not be installed on Windows, which can be incredibly frustrating.

Well, suppose you’re one of the Nvidia GPU users and encountering the same issue with the graphics driver installation via the Nvidia GeForce Experience app on the Windows desktop or laptop. In that case, you don’t need to worry about it. Mostly Windows OS automatically installs the generic driver for the hardware required to run the system smoothly. But in some cases, it may not be able to install the driver automatically or manually for some reason.

Several reports show that while installing NVIDIA drivers on the PC, users may fail to install the drivers unexpectedly. The error message should look like “this NVIDIA graphics driver is incompatible with this version of Windows”. Some users are getting the “NVIDIA Installer failed”, or the “GeForce Game Ready Driver Installation can’t continue” error message while installing GPU drivers. It can be irritating.

Some of the Nvidia GPU users are encountering the “NVIDIA Installer cannot continue” error message and can’t install the Nvidia GeForce Experience app on the Windows system. The chances are high that there might be some possible reasons, such as conflicted graphics driver, outdated system software, issues with the antivirus software, and more. Luckily, we’ve mentioned a couple of workarounds for you that should come in handy to resolve this issue.

1. Uninstall Nvidia Graphics Driver (via DDU)

The chances are high that there is already a driver installed on the PC, which has been corrupted unexpectedly, and that’s why you’re unable to install it properly. It’s better to clean and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver on the Windows computer by following the steps below. Display Drivers Uninstaller (DDU) tool will help you easily uninstall the driver on the PC.

  • First, download the latest Display Drivers Uninstaller software on your PC.
  • Now, install the DDU tool on the PC.
  • Make sure to turn off your PC’s internet connection to uninstall the driver.
  • Launch the DDU tool > Select your graphics driver (NVIDIA) from the drop-down list.
  • Click on Clean and restart (Highly Recommended).
  • Once the driver is uninstalled from the PC, it will ask you to restart your computer.
  • Finally, reboot your PC to apply changes.

2. Delete Additional Nvidia Files

You can now delete the additional Nvidia driver files on the PC to check for the issue. Make sure to search and delete Nvidia files from the Nvidia installation directory.

Once done, reboot the PC to apply changes, and then reinstall the graphics driver by following the steps below.

3. Reinstall Nvidia Graphics Driver (via GeForce Experience)

After following the above methods one by one, you can now use this method to reinstall the Nvidia graphics driver via the Nvidia GeForce Experience app on the Windows PC.

  • Visit the official NVIDIA GeForce website to download the graphics driver.
  • Now, download the GeForce Experience app on your PC and install it.
  • Make sure that you’ve connected your desktop monitor via the NVIDIA GPU.
  • Launch the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app > If it prompts you to update the version, update the app first.
  • Just proceed to the Drivers tab > Click on Check for Updates.
  • If there is the latest driver update available, click on Custom Install.
    • You can also go for Express Installation.
  • Enable the Perform a clean installation checkbox > Go to Next.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
  • Once done, restart your computer to apply changes immediately.

4. Update Graphics Drivers

It’s highly recommended to check for the Nvidia graphics driver on the PC by following the steps below manually. To do so, you’ll need to download and install the latest version of the graphics driver file to upgrade it.

  • Visit the Nvidia Drivers Download page and download the latest graphics driver file as per the GPU model.
  • Once the file is downloaded, open it, and click on OK.
  • It’ll basically start extracting and the actual installer will run automatically.
  • Next, you’ll have to choose if you only want to install the graphics driver. (both the graphics driver and the GeForce Experience app)
  • Select any one of them > Click on Agree and Continue.
  • Click on the Express (Recommended) installation option.
  • Now, click on Next > If prompted, click on Next again, and the graphics driver will start installing on the PC.
  • Wait for the process to be completed > Once done, click on Close to exit the installer.

Alternatively, try updating the Nvidia graphics drivers on your computer by following the steps below from the system.

  • Press the Win+X keys to open the Quick Start Menu.
  • Click on Device Manager from the list > Double-click on the Display adapters option to expand it.
  • Now, right-click on the Nvidia graphics card driver > Select Update driver.

  • Choose to Search automatically for drivers > Wait for the process to complete.
  • If there is an update available, the system will automatically download & install it.
  • Once done, make sure to reboot your computer to apply changes immediately.

5. Restart Nvidia Network Service

It can also be possible that the Nvidia Network Service is somehow not running in the background which literally causing multiple issues apart from the service missing error. To fix that issue:

  • Press the Win+R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type services.msc in the field > Click on OK to open the Services window.

  • Locate the Nvidia Display Container LS option.
  • Right-click on it > Choose to Restart.
  • Make sure to use the same steps for each Nvidia service that you can see on the list.
  • Once done, cross-check whether the problem has been fixed or not.

6. Run Nvidia Display Driver Service Manually

You should also try running the Nvidia Display Driver Service manually by following the steps below on the Windows PC.

  • Go to File Explorer (This PC) on your Windows computer.
  • Then head over to the C: drive where basically you’ve installed the Windows OS. [If you’ve installed Windows on another drive, open that]
  • Go to the Program Files folder > Locate the Nvidia Corporation folder.
  • Now, open it, and open the Control Panel Client folder too.
  • You’ll need to right-click on nvcplui executable application.
  • Select Run as administrator > Click on Yes to proceed. (if prompted by UAC)
  • You’re good to go.

7. Disable Antivirus Protection

Make sure to turn off the Windows Defender antivirus program on your PC to ensure there is no antivirus software blocking the game files. The chances are high that somehow the aggressive antivirus software is preventing the Nvidia graphics drivers to install or run properly. To do so:

  • Press the Win+I keys to open Windows Settings.
  • Click on Update & Security > Click on Windows Security.
  • Click on Open Windows Security > Go to Virus & threat protection.Real-time protection
  • Now, click on Manage settingsturn off the Real-time protection toggle.
  • If prompted, click on Yes to proceed further.
