Are the steps count on your Garmin Forerunner 45 and the Connect app not matching? Can’t see the details of your recent activity on your connected phone? If yes, your watch is not syncing to the Connect app. To put it simply, the activity details from your watch are not updating and therefore you are getting different data on your linked device. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through some easy solutions to fix the syncing issues with your Garmin Forerunner 45 smartwatch.
Garmin smartwatches ship with good software. But, truth to be told, no smartwatch, even the best of the best, can guarantee a bug-free experience. The Garmin Forerunner 45 comes with a premium design and has plenty of fitness-related features. It keeps on monitoring your heart rate and tracks your activity throughout the day. The watch offers smart notifications for incoming calls and messages. With GPS turned on, you get a battery life of up to 13 hours.
If you are a fitness freak, you need to regularly look at your fitness data. And, the best way to do it is through the Connect app. For this, you’ll need to sync your Gramin watch to another device (mobile phone, computer, etc). If for some reason, the sync fails, the Connect app won’t show the correct data. You should therefore keep your eye on whether the watch is syncing or not. If the sync fails, try the solutions we’ve mentioned below.

Try These Solutions if Your Gramin Forerunner 45 Is Not Syncing
If your Gramin smartwatch is not syncing, there could be a connectivity issue. The syncing also fails when you turn Bluetooth off on your connected phone/pc. Try the solutions below and get the issue fixed.
1. Manually Sync Using the Connect App
If your Gramin Forerunner 45 fails to automatically sync the data, you can quickly update the data from the watch using the Connect phone. Follow the steps below to manually sync data:
- Open the Gramin Connect app on the connected phone.
- Tap on the My Day tab at the bottom.
- You should see your Gramin watch icon at the top of the app screen.
- If you see a green dot next to the icon, it means that the app is connected to your watch via Bluetooth.
- If you see a red dot, you need to turn on Bluetooth on your phone to start syncing. The red dot should turn green.
- Click on the sync button (circular arrows icon) in the upper-right corner for manual sync.
Once you’ve clicked the sync button icon, the app will take a couple of minutes to sync data from the watch.
2. Check if Bluetooth Is Disabled
You have to make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on the connected phone. It is required for the sync function to work. Otherwise, you won’t see fresh data on the Garmin Connect app. If your watch is connected to the phone, you should see a green dot right next to the watch’s icon in the Connect app.
If you do not see a green dot, enable Bluetooth on your phone which is paired to your Garmin smartwatch. You should also check if the Garmin watch has turned off Bluetooth itself. For this, go to the Controls menu on your watch, tap the Bluetooth icon, and turn it on (if turned off already).
3. Restart Your Watch and Phone
A system glitch can also cause syncing issues on your device. To fix it, restart your phone as well as the Garmin smartwatch. To restart your Garmin Forerunner 45, press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to turn it off. Now, wait for 30 seconds and press the button again to turn it on.
To restart your phone, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears. Tap on the Restart option. On some devices, you may need to press the volume down button too along with the power button to get the power menu.
4. Turn Your Phone’s Bluetooth Off and On
Disabling the Bluetooth on your phone will disconnect the Garmin Connect app from the watch. Wait for a minute and then enable Bluetooth. The Connect app will try to establish a connection with the watch to sync the data.
5. Reinstall the Connect App
If the above methods have failed to fix the syncing issues, you can try uninstalling and then installing the Garmin Connect app. Remove the Connect app from your phone, and before you install it again restart your phone once.
Go to Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and download the Garmin Connect app. Now, open the app and sign in to your Garmin account and give the necessary permissions. Link the Garmin app to your watch and the syncing process should start. It may take a few minutes.
