If you are one of the troubled users, this article will help you. Here, we have listed all the solutions you can try to fix this problem. So without any further ado, let’s get into it.

How to Fix If Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro App Crashing or Freezing Issue

How do you fix if Pixel 7 and 7 Pro App Crashes or Freezing?

The solutions mentioned here are simple; undoubtedly, one will work out for any troubled user.

Reboot your Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro:

The first simple fix that you can try is a restart. Most software issues can be fixed with a single restart of most electronic devices. And the Pixel is no exception. You can try the restart option even with the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro app crashing or freezing issue. Hold the Volume Up and Power button together for a few seconds until you see the restart button on your screen. Tap on the restart and wait till the process completes.

Now try using the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro again. If you still witness random app crashes, try the next solution.

Refresh your internet connection:

Some applications require an active internet connection to function correctly. If your internet connection is slow, or if your connection is dropping in every once in a while, that will cause issues for the application making it crash out of the blue. So it would be best if you tried a couple of things to ensure you refresh your internet connection.

Firstly, if you are using WiFi to connect to the internet, you need to refresh the WiFi connection. For this, go to the Settings app on your phone and go to WiFi. Here, tap on the toggle next to WiFi to turn it off. After that, wait a couple of minutes and then turn it on again. Your phone will reconnect to the WiFi.

Secondly, if you use mobile data to access the internet, you must use the Airplane mode trick.

  • Open up Settings on your phone.
  • Go to Airplane Mode.
  • Tap on the toggle next to Airplane Mode to turn it on.
  • Then restart your phone.
  • Now go back to the settings menu and tap on Airplane mode.
  • This time turn off the toggle for Airplane mode.
  • Now let your phone connect to the network again.

If your app crash or freeze issue is still not resolved after this, try the next solution.

Clear the app from memory:

Sometimes restarting is not enough to eliminate simple software issues. You will have to clear all apps from the recent apps menu. For that, drag from the bottom of the screen, and you will see the recent apps menu show up on your screen. Swipe away all the apps from this list to remove them from memory. Once every application is removed from your memory, try using your phone again.

If your app crash or freeze issue is still not resolved after this, try the next solution.

Force stop the application:

Android has the option to force-stop an application from the settings menu. It eliminates all possible instances of an application running in the foreground or background of the smartphone. This could help with any particular application crashing randomly as well.

  • Open up Settings on your phone.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Find the troubling app in the list of apps that show up. Once you find it, tap on it.
  • Then tap on the Force Stop button. This will forcefully terminate the application entirely on your phone.
  • Now open up the application again.

If it still does not work correctly, try the next solution.

Clear app cache:

The cache for every application is stored on a smartphone to ensure a fast and seamless experience. But if there is any issue with the cache data, that would also affect the app’s general functionality. Even with a crashing or freezing application, that could be the issue. To fix this, you need to clear the app cache.

  • Open up Settings on your phone.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Find the troubling app in the list of apps that show up. Once you find it, tap on it.
  • Then tap on Storage.
  • Tap on Clear cache.
  • Finally, tap on clear cache again to confirm your action.

Try the next solution if clearing the cache data does not fix your application crash problem.

Clear app data:

Any application on an Android phone collects data over time. This contains information about login, usage, and more. If there is any inconsistency with the application data, that will affect the app’s general functionality as well. Even with a crashing or freezing application, that could be the issue. To fix this, you need to clear the app data.

  • Open up Settings on your phone.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Find the troubled application in the list of apps that show up. Once you find it, tap on it.
  • Then tap on Storage.
  • Tap on Clear Data.
  • Finally, tap on Clear data again to confirm your action.

Try the next solution if clearing the app data does not fix your app crash problem.

Update the application:

The application freeze or crash issue could also be related to a particular application, not the entire device. And applications often are buggy if not adequately developed. They receive updates now and then, and if you are using an older version of the application, there is a chance that is the cause of all your app crash and freezes issues.

To update the application,

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Search for the troubled app via the search bar.
  • Once you see it, tap on it to open the app page. You will see an update button here.
  • Tap on the update button and wait till the process completes.

If updating the application does not help, try the next solution.

Reinstall the application:

Sometimes simply updating the application is not enough. You might need to uninstall or delete the app from your phone completely and then try installing it again on your phone.

  • Open up Settings on your phone.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Find the troubled application in the list of apps that show up. Once you find it, tap on it.
  • Tap on Uninstall.
  • Then tap on uninstall again to confirm your action.
  • Wait till the uninstallation is complete. After that, restart your phone.
  • After the restart, open Google Play Store on your phone.
  • Search for that application.
  • Once it shows up in the results section, tap on it.
  • You will see an install button next to it.
  • Tap on the install button and wait till the installation is complete.

If you encounter sudden crashes and pauses in the app even after this, try the next solution.

Update the Pixel:

If you are using an early build of the latest Android on your Pixel 7 device, there is a possibility that it could be buggy. So you need to check for any new updates for your smartphone, and if you see an update, install it on your phone.

  • Open your phone’s Settings app.
  • Scroll to the bottom and find the option System. Once you see it, tap on it.
  • Now tap on System Update.
  • If there is any update pending, you will see it here. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the pending update.

Once you have installed the latest OS version on your Pixel 7, try using the internet again.

If it still does not work, try the next solution.

Factory reset your Pixel:

You should consider a factory reset as a software inconsistency could also cause app crash or freeze problems. And performing the factory reset will clear every bit of data on your phone. So you need to create a backup of everything necessary to you and complete the factory reset.

To perform the factory reset, open up Settings on your phone and go to System. Here, select “Reset Options.” Now select the option “Reset all data.” You will have to enter your password here. Enter the password and confirm the hard reset process.

The Hard reset will take a while; once it is complete, your smartphone will restart. It will have none of your previous data, and you will have to set up everything on your phone like you did when you first bought the device.

You should try the final solution if the app crash issue is not resolved even after the hard factory reset.

Contact support:

If none of the solutions mentioned above worked for you, there is a possibility that the problem is with the hardware on your device. It is not out of the ordinary to receive a faulty device, but this is not something you can fix on your own. You need to visit the nearest Google service center and inform them about your issue. They should be able to help you out with your problem. Since the new device will be under warranty, you won’t have to pay a penny for the repair.

  1. Absolutely worthless information. I like my Pixel 7 Pro quite a bit but the freezing and restarting is something that has to do with hardware and not software. It is a crime that Google is not supporting people who bought into this phone. LG a few years ago had issues with their phones and at least they gave customers two years to get it right. All I’ve been told by T-Mobile is my initial time to trade the phone in has expired so I’m screwed.

  2. My husband’s Google Pro 7 locked up on a screen and it would not release. He waited 5+ minutes and hit the on/off screen. It turned the phone off and he was unable to restart it since. Did the hold for 30 secs….no. Did the hold both bottoms for 30+ seconds….no.Call shop were purchased… Same suggestions….no.
Tried “you bring we fix…same suggestions….no.
They said bring..to reboot system but we loose everything…no. Can you help?
