Dark Mode has been one of the most anticipated features of the Android 10 update. This feature comes handy in low lighting situations for the convenience of the user. In fact, before Android 10, major OEMs like Samsung and others in their custom skins have introduced this feature but it did not support third-party applications. However, apps like Instagram, Facebook, and some Google apps have also introduced a dark mode way before Android 10 brought it in. But recently, WhatsApp also pushed in the Dark Mode feature in the beta version of the update. And in this post, we will guide you on how to enable the dark mode on WhatsApp.
Note that this update is only available for those who have registered for the beta program of WhatsApp as this update is still in works. Eventually, it is expected to come out as a stable version in the future but we might have to wait for a while for it to happen. However, you can download the app via third-party sources as the beta program is already full. So, without any further ado, let us get straight into the article itself:
How To Enable Dark Mode on WhatsApp
First of all, if you are one of those unlucky users of WhatsApp that could not register for the WhatsApp beta program then, you need to sideload the app on your device in order to experience dark mode on WhatsApp.
Below is the link to the update that you need to download and install.
Steps to enable dark mode on WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Tap on the triple dot icon situated on the upper right corner.
- Then head to Settings.
- Under the Settings menu, you need to go to Chats.
- You will now see a new option called Theme.
- Tap on it and you will be presented with three options i.e. System default, Light and Dark.
- Click on the Dark option to apply dark mode on WhatsApp.
- That’s it!
So, there you have it from my side in this post. Note that the system default option can be used if you wish to apply dark mode directly via switching dark mode toggle for your smartphone. Let us know in the comments below what are your thoughts about this new feature for WhatsApp and whether you were able to apply dark mode on WhatsApp using the above-mentioned method or not. Until the next post…Cheers!
