Meizu Android 9.0 Pie Update [Complete Tracker and Timeline]

After months of teasing and several beta updates later, Google finally unveiled the stable version of its ninth iteration of Android OS that was summoned as ‘P’ as it was a well-kept secret until its official release last week where Google announced its name as Android Pie. Here is a list of all Meizu smartphones that might get an update along with a detailed list of those smartphones from Meizu that might not make it to the Android 9.0 Pie.

Android 9.0 Pie is the ninth iteration of Android OS which started in 2008 and has undergone a series of transition packing stacks of features and UI changes in this operating system which looks completely different from any of its predecessors. It has Google Design Material 2 which makes its user interface pose and refined while the series of features that it comes with makes it one of the most secure and user-friendly OS.

Meizu Android 9.0 Pie Update [Complete Tracker and Timeline]

Android 9..0 Pie is loaded with a plethora of features such as Gesture-based navigations allows you to switch between tabs and clear recent apps similar to iPhone X using gestures. The Digital WellBeing calculates and keeps eye on apps used and its total duration and provide historical data about the same. Further, it tracks the number of times you unlock the phone as well as tracks number of notification received in a bit to curb smartphone addiction. You can set a particular time and the screen will resolve to grayscale that will inform the user that it’s about time that he/she must go to sleep to prevent overuse.

The notification panel with the ninth iteration of Android OS has received a complete revamp as it now sports a completely white-washed appearance which can be inverted to black in OLED displays. The notification tray has smarter channels that club notifications from the same app to prevent clutter. It also has a Do Not Disturb feature that snoozes a particular type of notifications until the mode is turned off. But that’s not all, there are other features too such as ART improvements, Adaptive Battery, App Slices, App Actions, App Timers, Dark Theme, and many more.

Meizu Note 8

The Meizu Note 8 is one of the latest offerings for Android Devices by Meizu. The Meizu Note 8 comes with a 6 inches Full HD Display which looks quite good. The temperature and color accuracy is on point. Under the hood, the Meizu Note 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chip along with 4 GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. The device is released in November 2018. With that being said, Meizu is much likely to roll out an Android 9 Pie update for this Device.

Meizu X8

Meizu X8 was launched in the month of October 2018. The Meizu X8 comes with a 6.2 inch Full HD Display which looks decent. Now, talking about the internals of the device, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip which is quite powerful. The device has 6 GB of RAM. All this is powered by a 3210 mAh capacity battery. It currently runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and it is eligible for Android 9.0 Pie update very soon, however, the timeline isn’t available.

Meizu V8

The Meizu V8, if you remember was released back in September 2018. The Meizu V8 has a 5.7 inches Full HD Display which looks good with a decent sunlight eligibility. Under the hood, the Meizu V8 is powered by a MediaTek MT6739 chip along with 3 GB of RAM. With that being said, the device is backed up by a 3200 mAh capacity battery. With that being said, Meizu is much likely to roll out an Android 9 Pie update for this Device.

Meizu 16X

The Meizu 16X is another great Android Device by the Company. The device has a 6 inch Full HD Display having a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. Talking about the internals, the Meizu 16X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip along with 6 GB of RAM. These specifications are quite powerful for a device. The device is backed up by a 3100 mAh capacity battery. With that being said, Meizu is much likely to roll out an Android 9 Pie update for this Device.

Meizu V8 Pro

The Meizu V8 Pro was also released in September 2018. The Meizu V8 Pro has a 5.7 inches Full HD Display which looks good. Under the hood, the Meizu V8 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chip along with 4 GB of RAM. With that being said, the device is backed up by a 3100 mAh capacity battery. With that being said, Meizu is much likely to roll out an Android 9 Pie update for this Device.

Meizu 16

The Meizu 16 one of the best offerings for the Android Devices by the Company. The device has a 6 inch Full HD Display having a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. Talking about the internals, the Meizu 16 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip along with 8 GB of RAM. These specifications are quite powerful for a device. The device is backed up by a 3100 mAh capacity battery. With that being said, Meizu is much likely to roll out an Android 9 Pie update for this Device.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus

Among the list of Meizu smartphones that will surely receive an Android 9.0 Pie update, Meizu Pro 7 Plus is at the top. It was launched last year in July with a 5.7” Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 518 PPI. The premium smartphone from Meizu offers MediaTek Helio X30 deca-core processor coupled with PowerVR 7XTP GPU and a 6GB RAM that makes it function at lightning speed. It currently runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and it is eligible for Android 9.0 Pie update very soon, however, the timeline isn’t available.

Meizu Pro 7

The stunning Meizu Pro 7 features a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core or X30 deca-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage. It features dual display i.e. a front 5.2” Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a secondary 2” AMOLED display at the back with 16MP rear snapper. It currently runs on Android 7.0 Nougat similar to most of the Meizu smartphone and will skip Android Oreo and will get its Android 9.0 Pie update next year for which, no timeline is available yet.

Meizu Pro 6S

Meizu Pro 6S currently runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and was released back in December 2016. It has a MediaTek Helio X25 processor similar to Pro 7 and couples it with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and a 4GB RAM variant. It sports a 4-axis OIS enabled, 1.25micrometer pixel size 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. It might skip Android Nougat and Android Oreo update as it is deemed to receive Android 9.0 Pie update sometime down the line maybe later next year.

Meizu M3

Meizu M3 was launched in April 2016 and has in-house Flyme 5.1 and Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It has a 5.0” IPS LCD display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 294 PPI. It features MediaTek MT6750 with 4×1.5 GHz and 4×1.0 GHz octa-core processor with 2/3GB RAM with 16/32GB internal storage. It is one of the seven Meizu smartphones to receive Android 9.0 Pie update, however, it is a matter of dispute.

Meizu Pro 6

Released in May 2016, Meizu Pro 6 features a 5.2” Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9. With Android 6.0 Marshmallow as stock Android with the skin of Flyme 5.6. The device has a MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core processor with 4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage. It is expected to receive Android 9.0 Pie update although the timeline may be different.

Meizu MX5

Released in July 2015, the device originally ran on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and it is expected to get Android 9.0 Pie upgrade. It has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Like most of other Meizu smartphones, MX5 resorted to a MediaTek Helio X10 processor coupled with PowerVR G6200 and a 3GB RAM with 16/32/64GB internal storage. The users will have to wait until further confirmation released by Meizu that won’t confirm if it will actually receive an Android 9.0 Pie update or not.

Meizu M2 Note

Next in the lineup to receive an Android 9.0 Pie upgrade is Meizu M2 Note which sports a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor and a Mali-T720 MP3 GPU and 2GB RAM. It was released back in June 2015 with Android 5.0 Lollipop and Flyme 4.5 UI. It might receive an Android Pie upgrade too though the timeline remains undisclosed from Meizu’s end.

Meizu 16

Meizu 16 will be released this month and it is undoubtedly that it won’t receive a further upgrade. Meizu 16 is a successor to Meizu 15 and sports a 6.0” Super AMOLED FHD+ display and runs on latest Flyme UI version on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. The device has a Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor similar to OnePlus 6 and has 4/6/8GB RAM variant and dual-camera setup at the rear panel. Although the Chinese brand hasn’t provided any word on Meizu 16 to get an upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie, it is highly possible that the smartphone will receive an update sometime in 2019.

Meizu 16 Plus

Soon after the launch of Meizu 16, the smartphone brand will release its Plus version i.e. Meizu 16 Plus which sports a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with 374PPI and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device hosts a Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with 6/8GB RAM and Adreno 630 GPU under its hood. It will be released with Android 8.0 Oreo preinstalled and as per what we expect, this premium middle-class smartphone in the sub $400 price range might get Android 9.0 Pie too.

Meizu M6T

Released in June 2018, Meizu M6T has an IPS LCD 5.7” display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, M6T has a MediaTek MT6750 similar to Meizu M3 along with 3/4GB RAM. It has Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed which is a strong pointer that it might receive an update, however, it is a budget smartphone which makes it confusing to draw to a conclusion. It may or may not receive an Android 9.0 Pie update as there is no official input from Meizu yet.

Meizu M8C

Meizu M8C was launched in May 2018 with midrange specifications and Android 7.0 Nougat as its OS. Although it isn’t listed in any unconfirmed list of Meizu smartphones to get Android Pie update, it is highly possible that M8C might get the update citing its midrange specification and release date i.e. June 2018.

Meizu 15 / 15 Lite / 15 Plus

All the three smartphones in the Meizu 15 series run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and with a skin of Flyme UI 7.0. All the three smartphones have Snapdragon 660, Exynos 8895 Octa, and Snapdragon 626 SoC which is high-end specifications. Since the list is not confirmed yet, we will have to wait for some more time until the official list is out.

Meizu E3

Released in April 2018, Meizu E3 has a Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor with Adreno 509 GPU and a 6GB RAM. It is highly susceptible that E3 will receive a bump from its current Android 7.1.2 Nougat to Android 9.0 Pie skipping Oreo in-between, however, we will have to wait for the official update.

Meizu M6s

Launched this year in January 2018, Meizu M6s features an Exynos 7872 hexa-core processor with 3GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage options. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with the skin of Flyme UI 6.2 and it is one of the few Meizu smartphones that could receive an Android 9.0 Pie update.

Meizu M6 / M6 Note

With MediaTek MT6750 and Snapdragon 625 processor respectively, both Meizu M6 and M6 Note have budget specs. Both the devices run on Android Nougat though the version is different it is doubtful that it will receive an Android Pie update even if it is not included in the list of eligible smartphones which is still unconfirmed.
