Oppo F17 and F17 Pro are the two latest smartphones by Oppo. Both of these smartphones come with the latest features, but it’s important to know if these are waterproof or not. Today we will conduct a waterproof test on Oppo F17 & F17 Pro and see if these devices are ready for water-related activities.

Oppo delivering electronic products since 2004. Recently, Oppo launches two brand new smartphones in its Oppo F series, i.e., F17 and F17 pro.

Oppo launched the F17 at just Rs.17,990 with great specs. It has a big 6.44 inches SuperAmoled panel and has a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. The Aspect ratio is 20:9 and 86.1% screen-to-body ratio with 409 PPI density. Available in three colors Dynamic Orange, Navy Blue, Classic Silver.

Powered by the powerful mid-range Qualcomm SM6115 Snapdragon 662 processor, which is based on 11nm technology. Talking about memory, it comes in 4 variant 64GB/4GB RAM, 128GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/6GB RAM, 128GB/8GB RAM, which gives you seamless performance while gaming.

In-camera department, Oppo worked well this time. It has a quad rear camera setup having a 16MP, f/2.2 aperture, (wide), 1/3.06″, PDAF, 8MP, f/2.2, 119° (ultrawide), 1/40″, 1.12µm, 2MP, f/2.4, (depth), 2MP, f/2.4, (depth) with LED flash. The rear camera supports HDR, Panorama and records video in 1080p@30fps. And the front camera has 16MP, f/2.0, 26nm (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.0µm.

This is a dual SIM(Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) smartphone, but it doesn’t support a 5G connection. A 4015 mAh non-removable lithium-ion battery is used that you can charge within 60 minutes with the 30W Fast Charger VOOC 4.0 presented inside the box. This device comes out of the box with Color OS 7.2 based on Android 10.

After conducting a waterproof test on Oppo F17, we can conclude that the device is not splashproof or waterproof. Even minor water exposure leaves serious water damage to the device.

Oppo F17 Pro launched at Rs.22,990 on September 07, 2020, with great specs. A big 6.43 inches super AMOLED screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and has a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. The Aspect ratio is 20:9 and 84.9% screen-to-body ratio with 408 PPI density. The three different colors Matte Black, Magic Blue, Metallic White, look attractive.

Powered by the powerful mid-range Mediatek MT6779V Helio P95 processor, which is based on 12nm technology. Talking about memory, it comes in 128GB/8GB RAM along with UFS 2.1, which gives you the best in class performance while gaming.

It has a quad rear camera setup having a 48MP, f/1.8,26nm (wide), 1/2.0″, PDAF, 8MP, f/2.2, 119° (ultrawide), 1/40″, 1.12µm, 2MP, f/2.4, (depth), 2MP, f/2.4, (depth) with LED flash. The rear camera supports HDR, Panorama, and records video in 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS. At the front side, it has a dual-camera setup of 16MP, f/2.0, 26nm (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.0µm, 2MP, f/2.4, (depth).

Oppo F17 Pro is not waterproof because it didn’t have any IP rating. So we decided to do a waterproof test for both the devices. For that, we soaked the smartphone into the water. After that what happens, you can easily identify by the records given below:

After conducting a waterproof test on Oppo F17 Pro, we can deduce that the device is not waterproof. The camera and charging port of this device got severely damaged in the process. We recommend users not to use Oppo F17 Pro for water-related activities.

However, both the devices are not waterproof. They do come with the latest specs and technology features, but it’s sad to see the company not offering splashproof or waterproof capabilities to this smartphone.
