How do you find the serial number?
If you had the console on you, you could quickly get the Serial number simply by heading over to the Settings page. But since you do not have it, you will have to either check the device’s retail box. You will find the serial number somewhere on the back of the device.
You could also check the receipt you received on purchasing the device. Usually, receipts also contain the serial number of an electronic device purchased.
What to do when you lose your Nintendo Switch?
There are a few things that you need to right away when you lose your Nintendo Switch.
Deregister your Nintendo Switch:
Deregistering a missing or lost Switch console will ensure that the console is no longer the primary device for your account. So there would be no invalid purchases on your bill if somebody stole it.
Deregistering will also mean that Nintendo will suspend all downloaded software on the device, making any game utterly unplayable on your account.

- Visit the Nintendo account sign-in portal and log into your account using the login credentials.
- Click on Shop Menu on the sidebar.
- Click on Deregister Primary Console option at the bottom of the page.
- Re-enter the password to confirm your action, and then click on Ok.
- Select your Nintendo Switch from the list of devices and then click Deregister.
- Confirm your action by clicking on the Deregister button again.
Unlink Your Credit Card:
You should also unlink your credit card from your account immediately to turn off unauthorized use.
- Visit the Nintendo account sign-in portal and log into your account using the login credentials.
- Click on Shop Menu on the sidebar.
- Click the Delete button next to the cards in the Credit Card section.
- Click on Delete again to confirm your action.
How to make sure you don’t lose your Switch again?
To ensure you never lose your Nintendo Switch, the best thing you can do is get yourself an Apple Airtag if you are an iPhone user or a Tile Mate if you are an Android user. These little tracking devices work like magic and give you accurate information regarding the location of your devices, given these trackers are attached to your devices.
These tracking devices will also alert you in case your phone moves too far away from the tracking device. So even if someone steals your console away while you are distracted, you will be alerted that your device is going away from you.
So this is how one can track a lost Nintendo Switch. If you have any questions or queries about this article, comment below, and we will reply. Also, check out our other articles on iPhone tips and tricks, Android tips and tricks, PC tips and tricks, and much more for more helpful information.
