However, most of the reports are suggesting that Android devices are prone to encounter text message send or receive issues. Luckily, the Verizon team is aware of this specific issue and they’ve provided some workarounds that should come in handy. Plenty of affected users did find these methods helpful. So, let’s take a quick look at it.

1. Reboot the Phone

First of all, you should try rebooting the handset manually to ensure there is no temporary system glitch troubling you. Sometimes the system cache or glitch may trigger the program running issues. So, just unlock the device screen and long-press the Power button for a few seconds to open the Power menu. Here tap on Reboot (Restart) and wait for the device to restart again.

2. Force Stop the Messages app and Clear Storage Data

It seems that the Messages app on the device may have some cache data issue and can be fixed the temporary glitch by following the steps below:

  • Open the device Settings menu > Tap on Applications. [On some devices, Apps & Notifications]
  • Go to Application Manager > Tap on See All Apps.
  • Tap on Messages from the list > Select Force Stop.
  • If prompted, tap on Yes to confirm.
  • Once done, make sure to tap on Storage.
  • Here select Clear Data and confirm the task.

4. Try Turning On and Off Airplane Mode

  • Go to Settings > Tap on Network and Connection. [On some devices, Airplane Mode]

7. Update the Messages application

For Android:

For Android:

9. Update the System Software of your Phone

  • Go to the Settings menu on the device > Go to Software Update.
  • Tap on Check for Updates > If a new software update is available, select Download and Install.

  • Once done, your device will automatically reboot into the system.

10. Reset Network Settings

For Android:

  • Go to the Settings menu on your handset > Tap on the System tab.

  • You should see a warning message for the same > Tap on the Reset Network Settings option.
  • If prompted, make sure to confirm the process > Wait for it to complete and then reboot the device.

For iOS (iPhone):

  • Tap on Settings > Tap to General.
  • Select Transfer or Reset iPhone > Tap on Reset.
