The Affinity level between characters, being one of the main aspects of this edition of Xenoblade Chronicles, allows characters to share Skill Links among themselves. Not only having high-Affinity level boosts your combat abilities, but it also helps you see exclusive heartfelt conversations known as heart to heart.

Each pair in this edition is provided with three heart-to-hearts and a total of 63 heart-to-hearts in the game.

High-Affinity levels, which are shown in the Affinity chart through 5 icons: Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink, are majorly essential to unlock heart-to-hearts, also because they let characters share specific skills. These conversations are sided events between characters in pairs and are usually found in locations that have a symbol of shaking hands, which looks like a heart.
