Updated on October 23, 2020: Finally, the MIUI 12 update is now rolling out for the Redmi Note 8T smartphone. Notably, the update arrives with version number V12.0.1.0.QCXMIXM and is based on Android 10 OS. Note that the update also bumps the security patch level to October 2020. The update brings optimization for the control center and some system fixes. The update is available for all the global variants of the Redmi Note 8T. Here is the complete changelog of the update:

-Optimization: Control center layout in landscape mode - System
-Fix: Noise could be heard when the screen was turned off in some cases
-Updated Android Security Patch to October 2020. Increased system security.
-Stable MIUI based on Android 10

Ever since the launch of MIUI 12 happened in April, Xiaomi users got pretty excited to know when this new and shiny, feature-loaded latest iteration of MIUI will arrive on their phones. A new report might not go in well with the Redmi Note 8T users because, as per the latest comment coming in from a Xiaomi device team member the Redmi Note 8T users will have to wait for “a few months” before they can enjoy all the features of MIUI 12. What features are we talking about? Well, MIUI 12 brings in new design, new animations, dynamic weather, enhanced privacy, revamped control center, Super Wallpapers (3D models of Earth and Mars), dedicated app drawer, Android 10 navigation gestures, floating windows, enhanced Dark Mode (dark mode 2.0), Mi Share, Focus Mode, Xiaomi Health, AI Calling and much more. But by the looks of it, Redmi Note 8T users will have to wait till the end of Q3 2020 to get their hands on MIUI 12.
If we go by the shared MIUI 12 global roadmap, Phase 2 of the rollout begins from this month and we are not exactly sure what “a few months” means. All in all, we can expect the update to arrive in Q3 of 2020. Now the only option Redmi Note 8T users have is to wait for the update as and when it is pushed by the OEM for the phone.
