Twitch users can enable two-factor authentication with their accounts, and almost everybody now understands the importance of such a security feature. But recently, some users have pointed out that the two-factor authentication of Twitch is not working on their accounts. Most users are complaining that they are not getting the code at all.

With the two-factor authentication enabled, it is nearly impossible to get into your account without the code you would get on your number. However, there is a way around it, and if your account was set up properly with your authentic phone number, you should be able to get back to your account. One thing to know for every twitch user is that Authy handles all 2FA on the accounts on Twitch. Yes, Authy is a third-party service that most users might not have on their devices. Still, even if you create two-factor authentication on Twitch via your phone number, that automatically creates an account for you on Authy on that number, so even if you are not getting an SMS on your phone number, you can use Authy’s unique access code to gain access to your Twitch account.

Use the Authy app:

This step is fairly simple. All you need to do is install the Authy application on your phone. Once you have it, open it and enter your phone number. The twitch account registered with that phone number will match, and a token will appear on your Authy application. Now all you need to do is tap on that token and you will see the security code on your screen.

You can use this code to get back into your Twitch account as that will act as the second code that you are otherwise not receiving via SMS on your phone number.

Change in phone number:

If you cannot get the security code on your phone number that you may have changed over time, then the issue resolution will take a while. With the Authy application or even without it, the phone number you used to set up two-factor authentication on Twitch needs to match the one you are using to access the authy application. If they don’t match, you won’t be able to get any token or security.

But if you have changed your number, you are logged out of Twitch and you need to get back into it, there is a way around it. You need to get into Authy’s website and request for a phone number change. It is not a single-click process, though and there are steps involved in it which are indeed straightforward. To initiate the process, you need to visit this site.

Once you get there, follow the on-screen instructions and you should be able to change your Twitch account’s phone number. You can then use the new number to generate the security code to reenter your account.
