4. Avoid Preloading the Next COD Vanguard Update (PS5)
Ensure to avoid preloading the next update of Call of Duty: Vanguard on the PS5 (version 1.008). It may cause some issues with connection failure or dev errors whatsoever. Until the developers come up with a patch fix, you should avoid preloading.
5. Disable On-Demand Texture Streaming
On-Demand Texture Streaming is an option that allows players to download an improved colour palette during the gameplay to give you a much more vibrant and realistic graphics quality. However, it can start eating up too much bandwidth or system resources that may cause lags, stutters, high packet bursts, etc. So, we recommend you disable the on-demand texture streaming option on the game menu.
Head over to the in-game menu > Go to Settings > Turn it OFF under the Graphics tab. You’re good to go.
6. Repair Game Files
It’s also recommended to repair game files on your PC by using the battle.net client. It can fix corrupted or missing game files (if any). To do that:
- Launch the Battle.net desktop app.
- Locate the COD Vanguard game from the library.
- Select Options > Click on Scan and Repair.
- Wait for the repair process to be done.
- Finally, restart the game to check for the issue again.
7. Power Cycle your Console
If there is no issue with the Wi-Fi connectivity, that means your router is working well. In that scenario, there may be some issues with the temporary glitch on your gaming console. Make sure to perform a power cycle to your console too.
For Xbox:
- Press and hold the Xbox Power Button for around 10 seconds.
- Once the Xbox console is completely turned off, pull out the power cable.
- Wait for a moment, around 30 seconds and then plug the cable back in.
- Finally, restart the Xbox console to check for the issue.
For PlayStation:
- Press the Power Button on your PlayStation console until you hear two beep sounds.
- Then unplug the console power cord > Wait for 10 seconds or more.
- Next, plug the console power cord back in.
- Finally, restart the PlayStation console to check for the issue.
8. Link your Activision account to the device
According to some players, linking issues with the Activision account and the COD game profile may cause several conflicts during log-in or connecting to the game server. It’s better to properly link up your game profile to the Activision account or sync so that the game server connectivity doesn’t appear again. You can check this link to manage your Activision account easily.
9. Change MTU Settings on PS4/PS5
If, in case, you’re still encountering the COD Vanguard Connection Failed Update Required error code, then make sure to change the MTU settings on your PlayStation console. By default, your console or PC should get the best MTU setting for you, but if you’ve changed something, it may cause an inappropriate MTU setting. This will trigger multiple issues with the server connectivity.
You can also factory reset your Wi-Fi router to check for the issue. Sometimes networking glitches or temporary cache data issues with the router can occur several errors like server connectivity or slow data speed. Just press and hold the Reset button on your router for around 10-15 seconds until the LED indicators stop blinking (slow down) and start usually blinking again. Now, wait for some time and connect to the Wi-Fi network again.
If you have to set up internet details and a Wi-Fi password on the router, you can do accordingly. But this method might go to help you in most cases.
