Fix: Call of Duty Vanguard Connection Failed Update Required Error

Just have some patience for the next update and if the problem has been fixed, you can preload it. As this issue is one of the forums and has been acknowledged by the developer officially, we’re expecting that Sledgehammer Games will soon release a solution for it.

1. Check COD Vanguard Server Status

First, you should check out the Call of Duty: Vanguard server status from this link to ensure there is no server downtime or service outage happening at that moment. If in case, there is an issue with the server operations then you’ll need to wait for some time until the problem has been resolved. Currently, there is no server issue happening at the time of writing this article.

2. Check your Internet Connection

It’s also worth mentioning to check your internet connection whether it’s working fine or not. Sometimes a poor or unstable internet network can trigger multiple issues with the server connectivity or downloading additional resources. In some cases, you should also try switching your wireless connectivity to wired (ethernet) or vice versa that might gonna help you out.

3. Power Cycle your Router

Make sure to perform a power cycle to your Wi-Fi router to check whether the internet glitch has been fixed or not. Just turn off the router and unplug the power cable from the power source. • Launch the Battle.net desktop app.

7. Power Cycle your Console

9. Change MTU Settings on PS4/PS5

Although we don’t recommend doing so as it’s a lengthy process and all of your saved game data might gonna be lost, there is nothing left except for this. To do so:

For Xbox:

• Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the Guide menu.
• Select My games & apps > Hit See all > Choose to Games.
• Then select the Ready to install tab > Select Queue.
• Select the Call of Duty Vanguard game that you’re trying to reinstall.
• Now, press the Menu button on your controller.
• Select Manage game & add-ons or Manage app.
• Choose Call of Duty Vanguard > Select Uninstall all.
• Make sure to select Uninstall all to confirm the task.
• Wait for the uninstallation process to complete.
• Reboot the system to apply changes.
• Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the Guide menu again.
• Choose My games & apps > Select See all > Go to Games.
• Select the Ready to install tab > Hit Install for Call of Duty Vanguard.
• Wait for the installation process and then restart the console.

For PC:

• Open the Battle.net desktop app > Select the COD: Vanguard game icon that you want to uninstall.
• Now, select the drop-down arrow icon next to the play button > Click on Uninstall.
• Wait for the game to get uninstalled completely.
• Then reboot the PC to apply changes > Finally, open the Battle.net desktop app and re-install the COD Vanguard game again.
• It may take some time to install the game completely.

For PlayStation:

• Open the PS4/PS5 console > Sign in to your user profile.
• Now, head over to the home screen and locate COD Vanguard.
• Press the Options button on your PS4/PS5 controller (button to the right of the touchpad) to open Settings for the game.
• Next, make sure to select the ‘Delete’ button > You’ll now have a message showing “This item will be deleted from console storage”.
