Fire Emblem Engage: How to Do Training Battles Guide

How to Do Training Battles in Fire Emblem Engage

As it is a tactical RPG, you will need to learn how to train your units in Fire Emblem Engage. These characters can be unlocked by progressing through the story. You will be able to promote them by leveling them up, and making them more powerful. If you want to speed up the process for a particular character, you can play individual training battles.

You will be able to unlock Training Battles in Fire Emblem Engage once you have completed Chapter 5 “Retaking the Castle”. They will help you gain extra XP and SP, and are similar to Skirmishes. In order to start a Training Battle, you will need to make your way to Somniel.

In Somniel, you will be able to boost your units’ stats by increasing their affection with their Emblem Rings. This is done through ring polishing, cooking, and eating meals together. Other than these activities, you can take advantage of the Arena to gain stats. This will take you closer to a promotion. There are two methods of accessing the arena.

Essentially, to start Training Battles, you will need to unlock the Arena. The first method to reach it is to go through Café Terrace from the Plaza. There is a grand door on the back wall on the right, that is opposite the entrance of the ring chamber. If you have already been here before, the second method is to fast-travel to this location.

You can also check the Arena’s location by pressing X while in the Somniel. Here, you will be able to see all the available places on the island that you can visit. The Arena is below Ring Chamber.

How to Start a Training Battle

Once you are inside the Arena, you will come across a glowing blue flame on the ground. There are two options that you will be presented with, which are Training and Emblem. Select the Training option to start a Training Battle.

In the Training Battle window, you will be able to choose the character you want to promote. They will earn you experience as well as SP if they have an Emblem Ring. The character will be fighting a random character as part of the battle. This random unit is controlled by AI.

No matter if they lose or win, you will still gain the XP and SP. However, if you do win, the rewards are greater. Note that you will be able to do a Training Battle three times between each Major Battle on the world map. Make sure to do all three to make the most of it.

That’s all you need to know about how Training Battles work in Fire Emblem Engage. Now that you know how to start a battle, you can go out there and gain those extra XP and SP. If this guide helped you, make sure to check out our other guides on this topic.
