How to Fix Borderlands 3 Codex Launching or Crashing issue
Make sure to check for the latest Windows OS version and graphics driver version at first. If any update is pending, then update it to its latest version. Once done, follow the below steps.

1. Update Epic Games Launcher
- Open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Previously you can go with Restart and Update option.
- But as of now, restarting the launcher for a couple of times will update it (if any).
2. Verify Integrity of Game Files
- Go to the Epic Games Launcher.
- Head over to the Library.
- Click on the Settings menu (cogwheel icon) from the bottom right corner of the Borderlands 3 game.
- Select Verify > It will verify the corrupted or missing game files.
- Once done, restart the computer and run the game.
3. Run as an Administrator
- Right-click on the Epic Games Launcher from your desktop.
- Select Properties > Go to the Compatibility tab.
- Tick the checkbox Run this program as an administrator.
- Finally, click on Apply and then click on OK.
Now, run the Borderlands 3 game (exe) as an administrator and the problem may be solved. If not, then check the next one.
4. Disable Antivirus Program
If you’re using any antivirus program on your PC, then try to disable it. If you don’t want to disable it, then add an exception of the Borderlands 3 game in the antivirus application and you’re good to go.
5. Run System File Checker
- Open Start menu > Type cmd and from the search result, right-click on the Command Prompt and run as administrator.
- The User Account Control (UAC) will prompt you. Click on Yes.
- Now, in the command prompt interface, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- The scanning process will start and will take some time. So, please be patient.
6. Reinstall the Game
- Open the Borderlands 3 Codex folder.
- Double-click on the Setup.exe file to initiate the installer.
- Here select the drive where you want to install the game.
- Tick the checkbox for the Copy contents of the CODEX directory to the installer.
- Finally, click on Install and wait for the process to complete.
- Once done, click on Finish.

7. Bypass Windows Firewall Protection
- Open the Windows Defender Firewall program by searching it from the Start menu.
- In the Firewall interface, click on the Advanced Settings from the left side.
- Go to Inbound Rules > New Rule > Select Program and hit Next.
- Select This program path and click on Browse.
- Locate and choose the Borderlands 3 game application.
- Select Next > Select Block the connection > Click on Next.
- Click on Next again > Type any name and select Finish.
- Repeat the same thing with Outbound Rules as well.
- Finally, restart your PC and double-click on the Borderlands 3 game on your desktop.
- Wait for a while as the first attempt it will take some time.
- You’re done. The game will now open without any issue.
