Nokia WiFi Calling – VoWiFi supported device: added Nokia 7.1, 7 Plus, Nokia 8.1 & 6.1 Plus

The Wi-Fi Calling service or VoWiFi service has been introduced recently in India from Airtel and then Reliance Jio. However, there are plenty of smartphone brands and device models aren’t compatible or not included on the list of supported devices. Meanwhile, the Nokia WiFi Calling feature has arrived on some of the compatible models like Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus. Even Nokia 7.2 unit has also received this feature.

Though it’s been quite late to implement this feature by Nokia, it’s better late than never. As both the Airtel and Jio are literally expanding the VoWiFi (Voice Over Wi-Fi) service across India, it will take some time to spread the Wi-Fi Calling feature in each and every city. Similarly, more and more compatible devices will soon receive this VoWiFi feature as well. Still, the Airtel Wi-Fi Calling feature isn’t available for the Nokia devices.

It basically features a faster and stable voice calling experience with no additional charges or any network congestion issue. Nokia 5.1 Plus

So, another Nokia device has been added to the list of device that now supports the VoWiFi (WiFi calling) feature. Notably, the Nokia 5.1 Plus, that recently picked up the Android 10 update, is now also getting the support of VoWiFi on both carrier network, i.e. Jio and Airtel. Interestingly, the Android 10 update for the Nokia 5.1 Plus also enables the call recording feature for the phone, which has been rolled out for other Nokia devices as well, in the recent past. For naive, the VoWiFi features allows the user to make use of the WiFi network to connect calls in places where there is low or no network signal. Moreover, this considerably improves the call quality and also negates the issue of call drop. Several users of the Nokia 5.1 Plus have confirmed that the Android 10 update indeed enables the VoWiFi feature for them.
