How to fix Samsung Smart TV Netflix Stuck, Frozen Screen, or Lagging Badly?
The reason behind this issue is a bug that could be present in the build of Netflix currently running on your TV. It is tricky to determine what could work in your case to solve your problem, so we have included all the common troubleshooters that could work. Try all of them, one after the other, until you find the one that works for you.
Soft reset your TV:
As simple as it may sound, most devices’ problems can be fixed with a single restart. Even in this case, with your Netflix getting stuck on a particular frame, the first thing that you can try is a restart or a soft reset.
To perform the soft reset on your Samsung TV, remove the power plug of your TV from the socket and keep the TV power off for a couple of minutes. After waiting out, place the plug back into the socket and wait till your TV turns on again.
Now try streaming on your Netflix account again. Try the next solution if it freezes or gets stuck on a frame again.
Check the connection:
A slow internet connection is the most common cause of a streaming service getting stuck or lagging. If the Netflix application is not getting enough bandwidth, it will struggle to stream any content you wish to play. So contact your ISP and enquire about any connection issues on their end. If there is nothing wrong from your ISP’s side, you should try resetting your router.
To reset your router, remove the power cord from the power source and keep it disconnected for a few minutes. After waiting a few minutes, plug the cable back into the power source and turn on your router again. Connect your TV to your WiFi network and try streaming anything on Netflix.
Try the next solution if it freezes or gets stuck on a frame again.
Sign out and then sign in:
You can try signing in to your Netflix again to fix the screen stuck issue on your TV. For some users, this has worked as well.
- Open up the profiles section in your Netflix app on your TV.
- Select options on the left side of the screen.
- Select Get Help and then choose Log Out.
- Now close the app and then open it up again.
- You will see a screen asking for Netflix login credentials. Enter your credentials and then log in to your account again.
If this does not fix your stuck screen issue, try the following solution.
Disable Samsung Instant On:
Samsung TVs have an Instant On feature that works similarly to Windows’ fast startup feature. When this option is turned on, your Samsung Smart TV will turn on as soon as possible when you power it up. Sometimes this can be an issue, though. There have been reports of apps on Samsung TVs not working correctly when the Instant On option is turned on. So even with your Netflix application, you should turn off the Instant On feature.
- Open up your TV settings.
- Navigate to the General section.
- Find Instant On here and turn off the toggle for it.
If this does not fix your stuck screen issue, try the following solution.
Check your Netflix plan:
It is hard to keep track of every subscription plan for every service on your smartphone or TV. With your Netflix account, there is a chance that your plan might have expired. So use your PC to open up your Netflix webpage on a web browser and log in to your account there. Look for your plan’s information here, and you will know everything you need. If it is expired or disabled in any way, you can fix it there.
If everything is fine with your plans, move on to the next possible solution.
Reinstall Netflix:
Having the latest version of Netflix running on your Samsung smart TV is essential if you want the application to function without any bugs. Over time applications develop bugs and the frozen or stuck screen issue on your Samsung Smart TV could be a bug. So to fix that, you need to update the application to the latest version.
It is best to uninstall the application and install the new version repeatedly ni. This will result in a clean installation which is better than a simple update.

- Press the Home button on your remote control.
- Open up Settings.
