FatshDarktide has recently released Warhammer 40,000: Darktide as a first-person shooter video game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. After the recent update, Warhammer 40000 Darktide players cannot launch the game in the Steam launcher. In this troubleshooting guide, we will try to fix the related problem.

After Darktide Update The Game is Not Launching on Steam

The game is extremely popular. On steam alone, reports prove that thousands of players are active on the game each day. Recently, the average number of daily players on Steam has risen to over eighty thousand. However, the game is far from perfect, says the reviews! Still, players often complain about not being able to launch the game. The issue is especially common after new updates are released. This problem is extremely vexing, but there are a few fixes players can do to fix the problem:

1. Restart your computer and try again

The first classic troubleshooting step is to restart your computer and try to launch the game again. This trick can be surprisingly effective. This is because when you restart your computer, you are clearing your Random Access Memory (RAM). When you are using your computer for a long period of time temporary caches and logs can turn your computer into a morass. Just quit steam, restart the computer, open steam, and try to run the game again.

2. Delete the LocalProfiles folder

If the game fails to run, you can try a more sophisticated solution. First, you need to locate the LocalProfiles folder. Just navigate to \steamapps\common\Darktide\Saved\LocalProfiles. Next, you must delete it and try running the game again. Make sure that before you do all of this you quit steam. Also, restart your computer after deleting the folder.

3. Update all drivers, Graphics, Motherboard, etc

If the game refuses to boot up, you can move on and try the next solution. For this solution, you should update all the drivers, graphics cards, motherboards, etc. Anything that can be updated on your computer should be updated. Depending on the type of computer the player uses, locating what needs an update can be tricky. For this, it is recommended that individuals take note of their computer’s manufacturer and look at their websites. Once all the updates are completed, try to run your game again.

4. Update/download Visual C++ latest version and DirectX’s latest version

If you fail to counter the problem even after trying all the above possible fixes, then you should download and install the latest versions of Visual C++ and Direct X. After installing these, the player should restart their computer as well as Steam. It is usual for Darktide to download some files after this, so let that be. Once the files have been downloaded, try to run the game.

5. Some optional solutions

Moving on, here are some optional solutions to fix the problem. The first step to this is to back up your single-player game. Your single-player game files can be found in \steamapps\common\Darktide\ Saved\. Once the single-player game is backed up, you should delete local game content through Steam. The player must delete the entire Darktide folder, which can be navigated at \steamapps\common\Darktide. After all the local files have been deleted, the player should reinstall Darktide and try to run their game again. For players to retrieve their single-player game file, they should wait until the game is running properly, then place the folder back where they got it from.
