1. Run Battery Diagnostics

Most laptop manufacturers will have their own diagnostics utilities so we suggest that you see the documentation. Before running the Windows 10 battery diagnostics, you must charge your laptop to a 100% battery and disconnect the AC adapter. With that out of the way, follow the below steps to run Windows 10 Battery diagnostics:

To start with, navigate to Start→Settings→Update & security→Troubleshoot
On the right pane, scroll down and click on Power
Then, click on the Run the troubleshooter button and wait for the process to complete. Once it’s complete, restart the device.

2. Ensure that your AC power supply is connected properly

If running the Windows 10 battery diagnostics did no good against the issue, then the problem might persist physically. One reason could be sourced from your laptop’s AC power supply brick. Make sure the cable is connected properly to this power supply brick. Disconnect and connect again to see if that resolves the issue. If it doesn’t help, move on to the next steps.

6. Ensure your charging port and battery are clean

The next possible fix is to see if there is any dirt that’s covering your charging port or the battery if it’s a modular battery. Look deeper into the charging port as well as the battery compartment. Even if you see no dust, try blowing in heavily into the empty spaces. If you do see visible dust, try reaching in and clean with soft clothes.

7. Check for BIOS and Chipset Driver updates

Just like your system software, components like BIOS and Chipset will also come in due to an update. In such cases, successfully updating them will possibly solve the charging issue that many of us are facing right now. As this is another possible solution, we suggest that you look for and update your BIOS and chipset.

8. Hard restart

Our final possible fix is to hard restart your system. In order to hard restart your computer, all you have to do is press and hold down the power button for a few seconds, essentially until your system shuts down. When it’s shut down, reconnect your AC Power brick and charger. Before you turn on the computer, make sure the charger is plugged in. This will help eliminate any bugs that are possibly the cause.
