Reinstall the Application

The first that you should try is reinstalling the application. Firstly, open up the Settings app on your smartphone and go to the applications section. There find the ring application and open it up. You will see the option to clear cache and data here. Tap on it to remove it all. After that, tap on the uninstall button to uninstall the application from your smartphone.

Now open up the Google play store or the App store and look for the ring application there. Once you find the application, tap on the install or get button to install the application on your smartphone. It will be the latest version of the application.

This new version will come with new alert tones as the developer removed the older ones from the previous versions.

Manually Add New Alert Tones:

There is a way to add as many alert tones as you want to your Ring app. You can even add the older alert tones without installing an older version of the application.

Firstly, you need to clear up the application data on your smartphone. Open up the Settings app on your smartphone and go to the applications section. There find the ring application and open it up. Inside the storage section, you will see the option to clear cache and data here. Tap on it to clear it all.

Now open up the application again, and it will ask for permissions. Give the application permission to access your device storage and then log into your account. After that, exit the application.

Now download the alert tones that you want to add to your ring app. After downloading them, put them into the notifications folder of your internal storage. Now open up the application again and access the notification settings section. Here, you will see all these newly added alert tones on a list. Just select the one that you want to use, and you are good to go.

Move the alert tones:

Sometimes, the alert tones are misplaced in the internal storage, making it difficult for the application to look for the alert tones you want. To sort that out, you can try the following steps.

  • Open up the My Files folder on your phone.
  • Scroll down to the Ringtones folder and open it up.
  • Navigate to Ring > Audio > Ring_app_alert_tones.
  • Here, select all the alert tones and tap on Copy.
  • Now go to the main internal memory and open up the notifications folder.
  • Paste the copied tones into this folder.
  • Now open up the Ring app and go to alert tones > Sound. You will see all the moved alert tones listed here.
