Re-downloading the PDF file
If there was a disruption in the connection of the PDF file during downloading, then that could corrupt the file. So, try to download it once again. Also, if the PDF file opens in the browser in that website where you found it, check if all the pages of the documents open smoothly.
If all the pages do not open, that means the file is already corrupt from the uploader’s side. Either find some other source to download your PDF or request the uploader to fix the corrupt file and reupload.

Check for Virus
This is another major issue that users often underestimate. If there is a virus actively present on your PC, then that may affect the working of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. So, immediately run a complete system scan to check for viruses. If indeed a virus is present, them remove that. After virus removal, check whether the PDF file opens or not.
Also, the system may not have a virus but the concerned PDF file may be infected. So, after you download a PDF file, scan the file for viruses. While downloading the files, make sure not to download the file from suspicious websites.
