GTA 5 Error Activation Required 2023 Fix

As an affected GTA V player, the activation required error with Social Club might have some issues. It includes “Social Club failed to initialize.” or “Social Club failed to load due to an incomplete installation. Please exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Social Club.” or “A newer version of Social Club is required. The updater may have failed. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Social Club.” or “Activation Required. Verifying game ownership failed and your offline activation data could not be loaded.” issues.

Well, Rockstar Games has provided some of the potential workarounds for the affected Grand Theft Auto V on the PC via the Epic Games Launcher that you can check below. Make sure to follow all the methods one by one until the problem gets fixed. So, without wasting any more time, let’s jump into it.

1. Reboot the Game

First of all, you should try restarting the GTA V game on your PC to ensure there is no issue with the temporary glitch or cache data.

2. Enter Rockstar Activation Code

You will need to enter Rockstar Activation Code manually to ensure there is no issue with the game activation. As GTA V is a paid title, you can’t enjoy the game without activating it using a valid account. To do so:

Download and Install the Rockstar Games Launcher here.
Now, make sure to open the Rockstar Games Social Club account by signing in to it.
Then click on your avatar profile on the top right side.
Select Redeem Code and enter your Rockstar Activation Code in the field.

Please Note: You’ll have to review the details at the bottom of the screen to make sure that you’re activating the code on the correct Rockstar Games Social Club account. If you’re not validating the correct Social Club account then you’ll have some issues. Additionally, you’ll need a valid internet connection which will be required for code redemption.

Click on the Check button to validate the entered code if it’s correct or not.
Next, select the checkbox at the bottom of the list to verify the items your account will receive on the activation.
Once done, select Redeem.
Finally, the Rockstar Activation Code will be redeemed on the account, and your game will appear under Games.

3. Check the Valid Internet Connection

Another thing you should check is if the internet connection is valid or not. Sometimes problems with the unstable and slower internet network might trouble you a lot. You should use the faster internet connection at your end by using the wired (ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection whatsoever.

You can also try deleting the local profile and signing in to the Rockstar Games Launcher by following the steps below to clear your profile details and resolve such an issue.

Open the Rockstar Games Launcher > Click on Settings.
Select Account Information > Select Delete Local Profile.

Note: Make sure that this method will remove all profile details from your local machine and require you to sign in to the Rockstar Games Launcher again. It won’t delete your Rockstar Social Club account or any saved game data. Just signing back into Social Club will recreate your local profile once again.

Select Confirm and sign in to the Rockstar Games Launcher again.
Now, launch GTA V to check for the issue.

5. Update GTA V

If in case, you haven’t updated your GTA Online game for a while then the chances are high that it becomes outdated and causes the GTA Online Error “Transaction Failed Because Inventory or Price Data is Invalid”. You should check for the game updates manually by following the steps below and installing the available update straightaway.

For Rockstar Games Launcher:

Open the Rockstar Games Launcher on your PC.
Next, make sure to sign in to the Rockstar Games account > Go to Settings.
Select the GTA V game from the list under My installed games on the left pane.
Click on Update and wait for the new version to get installed.

For Epic Games Launcher:

Open the Epic Games Launcher > Head over to Library.
Now, click on the three dots icon of GTA V.
Make sure the Auto Update option is turned on.

6. Verify and Repair Game Files

You should try verifying and repairing the installed GTA V game files properly to ensure there is no issue at all. Mostly corrupted or missing game files can occur several issues with the game launching whatsoever. Make sure not to run the verification process while performing other system-intensive processes because it may cause issues with the repairing process. Don’t run this process for multiple games at the same time. To do so:

For Rockstar Games Launcher:

Open the Rockstar Games Launcher on your PC.
Next, make sure to sign in to the account > Go to Settings.
Select the GTA V game from the list under My installed games on the left pane.
Click on Verify Integrity under the Verify game file integrity option on the right pane.
Wait for the process to be completed and a pop-up message will appear that your game is verified and ready to play.
Launch the GTA V game and check for the error again.

For Epic Games Launcher:

Sometimes verifying and repairing your installed game files may resolve the corrupted or missing game files on the PC that basically prevents you from being able to play the game until you fix it.

Open the Epic Games Launcher on your PC.
Go to the Library section.
Click on the three dots icon next to GTA V.
Click on Verify from the drop-down menu.
It may take some time depending on the size of the game.
Once done, reboot the launcher and play the game.
